Well I bought my first E34 this last weekend. I was actually looking for another E30 as a summer driver and a friend started talking about how he just purchased an E34 for his girlfriend, and it got me thinking....

I started looking around Ebay and found a really clean, one owner 525i/5-speed in California. I checked KBB and and placed my bid and won. I think I did ok based on how clean the car is. I'm not sure if I'm going to ship it or fly out and get it.

Anyway, what do you think?

From the description it sounds like you did okay. To me there'd be no question as to how to get the car back home... Fly out and drive that sucker back!

That thing looks clean !
Yeah, the 5 speeds seem to be rare. I looked at 64 cars before I made a pick on my 92 E34.
Good for you, best of luck.

As an E34 owner, I must say you did well. I got mine for $2500 with 2x the mileage, and it cost me around $1500 (i got into a lucky accident and used the money for restoration, so it cost me $0 out of pocket) to make it look brand new on the outside

That's a phenomenal looking car, and I think you got a good price, especially for a manual in Alpine. I would assume that you're going to have to put some money in it to get it up to speed, but no more than suspension and tune up stuff if you're lucky.

Car looks great. Only a few cosmetics should be changed....Looks like you need a new hood emblem, and you should definitely get rid of the candlestick headlights and go with ellipsoids! Here is my alpine white '95....

Thanks for the comments, I feel pretty good about the car.

I have some ideas as to what I would like to do with the car. For starters, I will lower it and do some wheels. Any idea if the lights from my E30 will fit into the E34 buckets? I think they are the same, but I'm not sure.

White525i- your car looks great, thats exactly what I would like mine to look like...

The actual E30 light assemblies will fit into the E34 frames. Pain in the butt to bother though. Just get E34 ones. All over the place at wreckers.

Thats exactly what I was hoping to hear, thanks!!! I've got some extra ellipsoids with HID from my E30 so I was hoping I could just drop them in the E34 buckets.

Thanks for the comments, I cant wait to get it. I need to decide tonight if I'm going to fly out or ship it. Dasmafia, that sounds like a plan. If I decide to drive it I will drop you a PM.

Fly out, it would be a ton of fun. I want to do that someday.

The car looks great, and it looks like you paid a good price for it. Some may say it's a little high, but when you take into account how clean it is and that it has relatively low miles, that little extra money is paying for a lot more car and a lot less hassle. Good luck with it, and take more pics once you pick it up!

Thanks, I used to drive a supercharged E36 M3 and I got a little bored with it. I enjoy working on the cars as much as I do driving them and the older platforms are great to work with. I did the swap on my E30 and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before another S50 ends up in my E34... :D

Well the transport truck was about 4 hours late and finally arrived at 11:30 pm this evening. I immediately took it up to the station and got it under the lights to check it out and give it a wash.

No real suprises other than the head liner sagging a little bit and about 7 burned out exterior bulbs...lol! All in all this is an exceptional car for 13 years old and I cant wait to start making changes...

Looks good, good price too!

First mod you should do is to get some newer style mirrors and paint the lower trim white as well as the door pulls.
