View Full Version : Who has sunburn from the Autox school?
bogdan 04-09-2005, 08:08 PM I hope all you MARB drivers that came out had some decent fun, and on your way to a newfound addiction with autox. :)
On another note.. use suntan lotion. I didn't, so I have a nice lobster tan. :embarrasm
post your discussions, suggestions, and wise-cracks (of course) :D
Biggins 04-09-2005, 08:15 PM I want to thank everyone that helped organize this event and finally get me out there. It seemed well planned and that course seemed very good on which to learn. The little training stations were a blast (SKIDPAD). It was good to finally actually see some BMWs and their owners because they do not exist here in Hagerstown.
WTF was I thinking not bringing sunburn lotion? Besides the nice green aloe gel, does anyone know any other "home remedies" to take the sting away?
woobiee 04-09-2005, 08:25 PM twas quite fun. learned alot
and i didnt get any burns :confused
AlfaEric 04-09-2005, 08:31 PM As usual, I was left working course until people started complaining that my arms looked like the flags. :help

I think Pete and Eric deserve most of the praise for giving up their social lives for two months and getting e-mails together, getting the facility, planning a timetable, and staying with it through our minor quirks today.
I'm glad you had fun on the skidpad, I hope everyone feels the same way. At one point we were considering leaving it dry, but it definately worked out better wet. :)
As far as traffic flow.. once we got things figured out, it went smooth.. (at the end of the day.. sorry guys :()
Also, thanks to Glenn, James, John D, Meathead.. err Greg, Revrend autox(Bill), Jed, the Wonger (for letting me drift his (racecar), Ricecomp (Keefe), Bren, Jason, Adam, and everyone else that came in to help and keep sanity about the place. :)
A big thanks also has to be given to all the rookie cops that ran over the cones... for making them extra sticky and nasty to handle. :confused
:D

wludavid 04-09-2005, 09:08 PM I am burned! Good to see everyone and spend some quality time in 1st and 2nd gears.
Spinouts are a lot of fun - I wish I had gotten pics of my sidemarker lights popping out of the bumpers due to chassis twisting. :eyecrazy http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/board/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif
Mikey52 04-09-2005, 09:17 PM I look like a freakin racoon. I didnt even think I was there long enough to get burned. :( Big thanks to everyone who took parts off my hands. :cool

Poke2120 04-10-2005, 12:42 AM I saw how burned Bill was but had no idea I was just as burned. Got home and looked in the mirror, I am worse than a cooked lobster. :(
But great fun today :)
surfacewound 04-10-2005, 01:46 AM I hate you all. I had to cancel my reservation, and while you lucky bastards were at the DE I was on a plane to San Francisco. :mad

you were the guy who didn't take his helmet off the whole time, right?
;)
Even with an application of sunscreen after lunch (thanks Bren) I'm seriously burned.
it was fun watching the students progress, there were some amazing turnarounds between the sessions and the autocross.
sorry to the people I mistakenly yelled out "+1" or "+2" to... the human PA doesn't work quite as well :)

GUINNESS 04-10-2005, 03:43 PM Little burnt on my neck... not sure if it was from yesterday or walking around today though.
I had a blast and wanted to thank all the instructors for their input. Big thanks to Jed and Glenn for the extra pointers on the little things to get faster. Maybe one day I can be just like Jed and be the HPDE Champion :D Thanks Eric for the use of the helmet at the end of the day.
I have a new appreciation for my car and for autox and can't wait to sign up and get my butt handed to me at the first event.
bogdan 04-10-2005, 03:58 PM Thanks Eric for the use of the helmet at the end of the
day.
:lol
He was going nuts looking for it.
"Dude, have you seen my helmet?"
"Can you keep an eye out for it?"
Next thing... you come up to grid, and there is his helmet. :nutz:
Definately.. come out to the first event, it's addicting. :D
god i wish i was there (god damn minor waivers and banks closing earlier than i though - notary)
AlfaEric 04-10-2005, 09:55 PM :lol

I had a huge pile of stuff I moved out of my car and my helmet was under a bunch of it. I went to start cleaning up and it was gone. I knew it would turn up but I just didn't feel like digging through the loaner helmet pile at the end of the day or at the next event. None of the students in the first half had it so I was a little confused. Next time, just let me know first. ;)

Gatorr 04-10-2005, 10:24 PM Yea I am definitely cooked from the event, luckily I managed to find an aloe plant and save myself from the burning feel...
Thanks to everyone who helped out at the event and did not get to drive nearly as much as we did. Thanks Bill, Jed, Kenny (?) who rode with me and instructed.
Are they going to have the results from teh final segment up soon?
-dave
btw, what happened to the Autox that was going May 1st?

The results may take a while. We had some registration issues. My hands now have a bad sunburn that makes typing difficult. :(
The May 1st event was cancelled because Rosecroft's lot is in REALLY bad shape.
