I could probably toss something up for you, and I can also provide hosting, and I think domain registration would be like $8-10/yr. I am willing to host for free, and even create you a site for free, if I have time.

For those who do the work, do you just estimate what a complete job will cost, or do you break it down by time spent? Also, if you do the site, do you continue to maintain/update it? If so, what kind of costs are generally associated with it?

Yep. All our servers are RedHat or FreeBSD (unix). We support open source, not microsoft. :buttrock

Sweet. I would run Linux constant if I could play my games on there. I've tried Cedega and WineX and still no help. It would be sweet to pull a full 100fps in my games like I do in Winblows. then I can definately ditch it. I do run a file server here at home with FreeBSD. :D

I have been trying to get my work to turn over to Linux, but they won't budge. They are still using Windows NT 4.0 for their PDC. :(

They have a network administrator who is all about his Windows (NCSE/NCP) and is all by the book, so anything having to do with Linux he runs from and won't even consider. They just spent like 5000 dollars on just licensing for Windows 2000 Server, yet the license supports Windows 2003 Server, but then they would have to fork money for that. It's sad how bad the security is there too. :(

Ah yes, the sysadmins who live in a cardboard box and suck microsoft's dick all day long because they're too scared of linux's huge size.

I do work as well (freelance and for my company).

What kind of pipe are you operating with?
We've got OC3s from both Level(3) and Cogent. But, ~300mbps isn't enough so we're moving our facility into 55 or 56 marietta (depending if we want just dc space or dc and office) and at that point we'll be upping both lines to gig-e.

I personally also have equipment in tampa, dallas, scranton PA, and London.. pipes and carriers vary of course.

It seems like this forum has a pretty heavy helping of developers! I guess engineers tend to better appreciate the true beauty of our machines. Anyway, as long as everyone else is tooting horns, I am co-owner of a development company, Level 2 Development www.l2development.com. We focus on PHP/MySQL based solutions for dynamic web-based applications, such as content management and other custom development work. We do not focus too heavily on the graphics design side, more back-end stuff, like converting old MS Access apps over to MySQL with a web front-end and stuff like that.
