View Full Version : My 97 M3 vs. 93 Integra GSR
Joelude 04-08-2005, 02:26 AM First of all, let me start off by saying that after tonight, I will never attempt another freeway race of any kind or race on the streets whatsoever. It is stupid, unsafe, and has the potential of raising your insurance rates as the friend of mine in the GSR found out tonight.
So I already know that my car is faster, therefore I didnt really have to try, more like, I played around with him. After a couple times of slowing down on the freeway to about 25mph or so, and did two runs to about 80mph. Mind you there is little to no traffic on the road so we arent impeeding on anyone. Of course I was ahead anyways, cuz even messing around I still need to be ahead. :evil2 So I happen to glance in my rearview (it is around 10pm) and see a SUV in the distance and for some reason I sence..... cop. Sure enough, with me in the left lane and the guy in the GSR in the right, doing a little under the speed limit, the cop flips the lights. I am a little ahead of the GSR and start to merge to the right as the cop is in my lane. Instead he pulls the GSR over and I am debating what I should do. Pull over, and get the ticket also, or continue at the speed limit and see if he comes after me. Well he didnt. And the guy in the GSR gets the ticket. Of course the guy in the GSR didnt give me away and I feel like I dodged a huge bullit today. It has shown me the light and will not attemt this sort of behavior again.
Sorry for venting. Its kind of a kill and a warning to people. I have learned now that its just not worth it to drive like that. I hope some of you realize this and learn from it. :)
Serious 04-08-2005, 02:32 AM we never learn. ive severely cut down on my races though precisely for the reason that happened to you, there are just to many damn cops and state patrol out on I5 and 405 now.

You arent even joking. Its not like I was doing triple digit speeds or, super fast lane changes. I think we got to about 85 or so on highway 16 in Gig Harbor. I guess what tipped us off is the fact that the GSR has some really loud custom exhaust, where I have stock exhaust. Its just not really worth it and stupid on my part because I knew I was faster than him and shouldnt have wasted my time. I didnt even get a ticket and for all I know the cop wasnt even interested in me, but the fact remains that my actions made a friend of mine get in some really big trouble and now I feel bad.

totally agree.... every single cop in california is either eating donuts or cruising on 405...

Happened a similar thing to me a couple of weeks ago. A volvo v70 is speeding as hell and I thought he wanted to race, so I pass him at about 80mph in a 50mph zone. And the car follows me and I start to kiss my drivings license good bye. And a drivings license is alot harder to get in sweden than for example the states. So he stopped me and asked why I was in such a rush and so on. And he asked me what I would say if he showed me a dvd movie in his car with me doing 80mph, I just said that I would want to get his car calibrated and see new paper´s that his car is recommended for that kind of speed trapping. He just went silent and when I said that I was going to police academy in a year he just let me off...I now only accelerate fast to the speed limit, on very special occasions do I surpass it.
Robert 04-08-2005, 06:11 AM Don't you just hate it when cops ruin your fun? That's what the trunk mounted MG42 is for. A good german car with a good german gun. :)
giterdone 04-08-2005, 09:01 AM why would you use an MG42? That thing is ollldldddd. I'll stick with just a simple 249, 60, or .50cal. All american and all very good. :) But become a vigilante and wiping out cops doens't seem like the answer.
But I agree with everyone, cops are everywhere. I have gotten lucky a couple times in virginia, I am more worried, and now normally all I do is accelerate quick and take turns quick to give me a "rush" and a "feel of speed" and don't like to speed much.
ArmySweitzer 04-09-2005, 09:47 AM to be fair the mg42 still kicks ass, it fired over 1000rpm and the USA made videos for GIs so they wouldnt get scared when they heard ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...death.

mitchelrl 04-09-2005, 03:54 PM just make sure you have a good lawyer and haul ass to your hearts content.
BIMMERBOYZ 04-09-2005, 06:11 PM I will still speed if there is an open freeway and it's all for fun. I love going fast and not going to stop. The fastest I have driven is 135 140 only once and regularly do 100ish on the freeway. But only on the freeway at late night so I love going fast it is a thrill and the most fun you can have in your car.
Robert 04-09-2005, 08:26 PM hahaha..
I was with my friend in his e30 M3, we came around a curve alittle over 100. My friend slowed down, then I saw the cop turning out so I said "floor it!". Cop tried to get us but we ran.. That cop couldn't catch us at all, the m3 put that crown vic to shame. We hit about 130 with a cop behind us then lost him zig zaggin thru the city blocks. Totally stock 1991 e30 M3. That little 2.0L 4 cyl put that big v-8 5.0l to shame.
That was a rush. 40-50mph turns in those 90degree blocks, it felt like a roller coaster. Right on the turn in on those turns, I got that "oh shit!!" feeling. This was about 1am in the morning in this small town. I still slap myself for not having a video camera with me that night, it was sweet. :devillook

Your lucky you didn't have a camera. I forget what it was, but one of those "Dumbest Criminals caught on tape" things on Fox or something, they had all the things, these people woudl've gotten away with the crime, if they didn't film it. Just keep it tucked away in your old brain. ;)
Robert 04-09-2005, 09:34 PM I would of waited more than a year or 2 before I posted it for everyone's viewing pleasure. LOL That rush was better than dope!
Run from the cops everyday for max high! lol :cool

I dunno man... putting yourself and others at rish is not a laughing matter
Andres 04-10-2005, 04:42 AM Ya, a video would have just screwed you over in the long run.
I've ran from a cop and it was one of the dumbest things i've done thinking back on it.
StanJenkins 04-10-2005, 06:10 AM nice kill
EURO M3 CSL 04-10-2005, 02:35 PM yea.. dont race. streetracing is bad. :nono thats wat the tracks are for. but then again.. ill race if sum1 realli pisses the fawk out of me. :devillook but usually im a calm driver :stickoutt
Joelude 04-11-2005, 02:28 AM I understand how street racing can be bad. It is dangerous to others and as good of a driver that you are, there is always someone that is really bad at it and will cause the accident.
Now, that I know of, the guy in the GSR called me and told me that he got the ticket. I felt really bad about the whole deal. But the ticket that he got said "racing another vehicle" and didnt have a speed or a price of the ticket which leads me to believe that he didnt clock us. He just saw us slowing down, but could hear his exhaust. But with that ticket came a court date. But I was under the impression that you get a court date after you turn the ticket in. Weird. I have a feeling that he may be able to get out of it. But I am truely thankful that he didnt give up any info on myself. He is awesome for not doing that. :buttrock
gundamzaku 04-11-2005, 04:27 AM i don't race because i'm a slow driver. but cops do have a "suggested" amount of tickets they "need" to give out per month. it is not legal to have a quota, but they do have a certain amount in mind, especially in california where the state deficit is so insanely high. so be careful guys, drive fast, but drive safe. and if you see a black 325i on the slow lane, feel free to wave or nod.
s0urce 04-11-2005, 06:38 AM . . .and if you see a black 325i on the slow lane, feel free to wave or nod.
Also if you see a black 318ic trying to keep up with that "slow" 325i in the slow lane feel free to give me the m42 salute. :buttrock
KAOSIE 04-12-2005, 02:04 PM hell ya i street race. if i was to die racing, then i died doing something i loved. only god will judge me.

ONTARIO STREET RACING, ITS IN THE BLOOD..............

GG///M3 04-12-2005, 02:22 PM nice kill, he must likely got pulled because he was in the gsr :stickoutt

I should edit that out... :evil2
agmobb 04-12-2005, 03:09 PM Luckily I havent gotten a speeding ticket yet in my 4 years of driving. I have had highway patrol come along side of me and tell me to slow down but thats it.
Theres just no way in hell I could be content with 65mph. Of course in traffic Im not driving like a jerk but when its open my minimun is 80. Even when I was in my 86 beat to hell Bronco I had it at 80 whenever i wasnt going up hill.
Joelude 04-12-2005, 03:16 PM Dont get me wrong, I love driving fast like the rest of you. But I got to hear how my brother got arrested for street racing in Arizona, hauled off to jail, then had to deal with getting a descent price on insurance. To me it all dosent seem worth it.
PointMEby 04-12-2005, 06:29 PM Its really a matter of how you drive. If your out there to dodge cars and constantly go more than 15mph over the limit accidentally allll the time ... you will get a ticket... but if you drive defensivly, know your areas, use your good judgement ex(dont speed by bridges, curves singes, speed traps etc etc etc) then your chances of getting a ticker are much more slim. Believe it or not my parents(big car people and excellent drivers) teach me all these highway tricks. My mom is the only person i know that can manage 96 mph avg speed to Destin Florida from ATL with cops everywhere and never get a ticket. Its all your conditions, judgement and yes alittle luck and a nice V1 to help you for those cops in blind spots.

lol, well I dunno exactly what I average, but I know to and from (Lakeland, Florida to Ft Belvoir, Virginia)but I would say about 90mph was my average. :) But my first trip up to Ft Blevoir, I got pulled doing 87 in a 55, I was barely past Orlando on I-4, I hadn't even made it to I-95!!! Luckily the cop was nice, gave me a warning, and I kept my speed down until the middle of georgia, then I found some groups to run with. Then on my trip back to Florida, I remember, just barely trying to pass an impala (looked like a civilian I swear) and the guy twirped his siren a bit and gave me a stern look so I slowed down to about 10 over (his speed) until he got off. But I have no V1 or anything like that, I just pray my 25% irishness keeps bringing me luck. :)

You may get that «time out» feeling too.
