Based on the stellar qualifications set by the Charter Members of the BMW E38 Beef Club, some of which are pictured below, we are now accepting aplications for membership. Please be advised, we also have "Honorary" memberships for those that fall a little short of the minimum "Beef Club" weight-class pictured below. :)

OK, so here's the drill. In your response to this thread, please give the following information as a minimum, however you may include any additional information you desire. Actually, a picture of yourself also would be great but is not required:

- Car's Year, Model and Color
- Your Height
- Your Weight
- Your Location

OK, I'll start:

5'-10" (at least 6'-0" w/hair)
250 +/-
Plainfield, NJ

I'm originally from New Orleans so I can go for:

Red Beans w/smoked sausage
on White Rice
Cornbread
Pecan Pie

Have fun guys.

Especially if it's a New York or Porterhouse, grilled to perfection with a green peppercorn sauce. A nice filet mignon with bearnaise would do nicely also. With a side of creamed spinach or baked potato with all the fixins.

Sure Bryan, you're in as an "Honorary" because you meet the minimum "weight-class". You'll get full membership when you get that E38. ;)

Maybe we should change the club's name to the E3X Beef Club... that would more accurately reflect our cars and our shirts. :D

Matt,

OK let me try this one... the name of the club is the "BMW E38 Beef Club" but we let Bryan in as an "Honorary" member, although he ownes an E32. And we offered him full membership once he got an E38. Bryan accepted his honorary status with mention that he would be looking for a new E38, in jest of course, and his "joke" was asking about membership if he got the new E65 745i (see "biglaugh" smiley)... (knowing how most of us E38er's feel about the E65). ;)

I guess you had to be there... :D

That's a Victor wheel, purchased from the nice folks at CEC. Those wheels fall into the same category as Valentine V1s, Rolex watches, and UUC shifters - the Ultimate of its kind.

And what's that guage on where the fogs switch should be:D:D

It's a dual gauge monitoring the flux capacitor and anti-grav system.

Just kidding...

It monitors rail cannon energy remaining and life credits.

Oops, never mind. Those are displayed in the dash cluster.

Would you believe oil temp and pressure?

Don't answer if you don't want...when is completion scheduled for?

August 2001. We're running a bit behind. August 2002 seems more realistic at this point.

$ and do you lose any of the "controls"?

MDabney
06-15-2002, 10:16 AM
It looks like a direct replacement so you should not loose any controls but I'm thinking mucho $$$ :cashwalle

I checked CEC's website but they don't list prices, just part numbers. They are available in black, burlwood or carbon fiber accents. Do I hear a group purchase opportunity? :buttrock :D

Sheesh, is anything having to do with a Seven inexpensive?

Depending on the wheel and trim, the Victor stuff varies from $500 - $900, and there's a core charge for your original wheel, about $200.

All of the controls are retained except the new wheel is not heated, so that button has to be made to do something else really cool Smoke screen or nitrous oxide, something like that.

If a bunch of you guys are interested in this wheel, I do have an account with CEC. Perhaps we can put something together.

- Rob

MDabney
06-15-2002, 12:49 PM
Rob,

I'm assuming the price range is from $500 for Black to $900 for CF with Burlwood somewhere in the middle. Anyway, I say a couple guys on Roadfly looking for E38 wood steering wheels in the $400-$500 range so I'll check if they are interested in upping the anty for Victor.

Thanks for the info.

Mike D.

The news is not good.

Apparently CEC is having supply delays with Victor, and product has not been received for quite awhile.

Under normal circumstances, a product like this would take 3 weeks to receive. With the current issues, CEC tells me not to expect it for a few months, and then only if an actual order was placed.

So the only way this is going to work is if bunch of guys are willing to pre-pay and wait an indeterminate time, and they understand that there is no guarantee of arrival date.

Pricing would be a little more than $700, and then there's a $200 core charge. You don't get the $200 back in cash, you get it in credit toward any other product from CEC. Up-front cost is around $900.

- Rob

MDabney
06-24-2002, 11:52 AM
Rob,

Thanks for looking into this but I think most of the guys would not want to go with the $900 cash out of pocket and indefinite delivery. Plus that $200 core charge refunded in CEC store credit is also crazy. That's too bad about the Victor delays.

Mike D.

Rob Levinson
06-24-2002, 12:27 PM
It is indeed not an inexpensive upgrade.

For me, it was worth it - I had some wheeltime in a Mercedes with a Victor wheel and thought this was worthwhile. The difference in the grip contouring makes it feel like the wheel was custom-cast from your hands.

However, if all you are looking for is a cosmetic upgrade using CF or wood, I have been experimenting with that using a stock wheel. I will post some pics shortly. Cost is less than a replacement wheel, but still not really cheap.

Gentlemen,

Please allow me to extend a Welcome to our newest E38 Beef Club members.
I was away for a few weeks ensuring the Royal Caribbean knew how to prepare a proper Extra Strength Frozen Margarita. As I recall, they have it right, but the details are sketchy and I seem to have misplaced my notes on the week long survey I undertook. :dunno

I hope you have fun driving the last true large frame Luxury Sport Sedan BMW ever made.
*Flameproof suit ON:
That is before the infamous MB supported mole & saboteur Bangle, landed a job with BMW. I cannot for the life of me figure out what they were thinking or if they were thinking at all :dunno with the E65, but I digress...
*Flameproof suit OFF:

If you are one of the few, the proud, the fortunate, the slightly  overweight, to own and love the E38, you came to the right place.
There is nothing like the majestic look & feel of the E38.

Enjoy yours safely

Hey, I think I qualify if you can convert metric!

I'm 5 foot 8 (173cm), and 13-1/2 stone.

Home is sub-tropical Brisbane in Queensland, Australia and seafood is BIG BIG BIG!!!

An ideal meal is a night at Il Centro, Brisbane's best Italian restaurant by the Brisbane River - entree would be the bruschetta, followed by the signature dish of Il Centro - sandcrab lasagne (Oh, to die for - I'm getting a chubby just thinking about it). If there was any room left, this would be followed up by their home made lemon gelati, and washed down with 2001 Vasse Felix Dry White or 2001 Houghton White Burgundy.

Then there's the forklift rental to get me down to the car....

Cheers

I will definitely look you guys up the next time that I'm on the northeast coast. It may be a while though. I don’t travel as much as I used to. To bad that you and Sheld missed Bimmerfest and I missed Oktoberfest. Those would have been good chances to meet up. I’m still giving very serious consideration to the “Ultimate Road Trip” to the Fatherland.

The last time that I way in New York I ended up driving down to Paulsboro, NJ for a site tour. I was short on time because I had to drive back to New York to catch an afternoon flight, so I didn't have time to look any of you up. I did cross over the river into Philly and drive through downtown to at least say that I'd been there.

Hello all,

....OK, I guess I have to admit - I have some bulking up to do!

As you can see below, I have a beautiful 1995 Calypso Red 740i (and it's older cousin a 1972 Verona Red 2002).

I took in FlyingHigh a few years ago as a mistreated lease turnback and heaped on some serious grooming and attention to turn her into the beauty she is today. Along the way mod fever struck and it continues as I write. I'm currently plotting and planning my next mod slated for January - an engine chip that will be crafted by RevHigh.

A few have asked where the name came from - basically I'm a pilot (recreational) and I grew up in the '70's (recreational)... Enough said.

Now for the tough part - the good news? - 6' 1" - so there's a decent foundation to work with. The bad news? - 180 lbs. - at the end of the day. I know, I know. As I said, I'm new...

Finally, the other good news: I like to eat! ...but I also like to run... So the one cancels out the other.

My favorite meal starts with an Oregon Pinot Noir - preferably Cameron Clos Electrique. Then into seafood - doesn't matter what kind as long as it's Salmon or Ahi and accompanied with garlic mashed potatos and asparagus :D Usually this means more Pinot or a French Red Burgundy to go along with. After dinner calls for Port or Sauterne with anything sweet. Luckily for me, my wife is a great cook, so my humble needs are always satisfied.

I will need to work on this a bit. Perhaps less running and a few extra meals during the day will do the trick. I'll keep you posted.

- Color: Arctic Silver / Black Interior

- Your Height: 5'-10"

- Your Weight: 220

- Your Location: Mount Laurel, New Jersey

- Favorite Meal:

Appetizer: Broccoli Rabe
Soup: Crock of French Onion au Gratin
Salad: Garden Vegetable Salad with Bleu/Gorgonzola Dressing
Entree: Steak Au Poivre (Peppercorn) in a Cognac Cream Reduction Sauce over Garlic Parmesean Mashed Potatoes
Dessert: Cheesecake served with fresh strawberries
After Dinner Coffee: Double Shot of Espresso With 3 Beans & a Snifter of Anisette Liqueur on the side
Dinner Beverages: I prefer the Californian Justin Isosceles red wines or the Australian Yellow Tail Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Merlot wines with this dinner.

This particular dinner should be concluded with Churchill sized Cuban Montecristo or Romeo y Julieta brand cigars & a Snifter of Germain Robin Perfection Brandy while reclining in a 102 degree Jacuzzi Spa Hot Tub.

This would be my perfect dinner & my idea of relaxing & melting off the stress of the week. A nice full body massage after the hot tub could be added as well depending on how rough the week had been. :D

Song,

We are up here in Dallas, our DFW7 club has been meeting since 2002. During our last get together, Erick drove up from Austin. I think there are 3 or 4 Austin E38 owners that visit this and other E38 message board from time to time. Would love to have you join us for our next get together sometime in February (will be announced soon) http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/dallasbmw/

PM me if you have any questions.

Ojeda's makes a mean chimichanga... And I love Italian... And a good medium-rare burger always hits the spot... Man, am I starting to get hungry. I wonder if Ball's hamburgers opens at 9am??? :D

No sir, Mike. The Mrs. and I flew to Dallas and picked up the car, met up with these folks, spent the night and drove back the next day. This is our first BMW and we had it all of one hour before meeting up with DFW7's at the winery. Purchased on eBay and so far I couldn't be more pleased with it. You would never know by looking at the car that it's a 96 with 115K miles on her. She's in better condition than my 01 Jetta TDI with 36K miles. Only item of concern are codes P1174 and 1175 which the seller disclosed but I don't know what they mean. Best I can tell, the car is running just fine. Got 21 mph on the 500 mile trip home in a driving rainstorm with multiple stops.

OK, gotcha Joe... good luck with her. I think there is a listing of error codes over at e38.org but I'm not 100% sure. You might want to give them a look see.

Perch Fry (homemade Cornflake/breadcrumb breading), with my (world's best) fried potatoes w/ onions (heavily peppered), and Aunt Janet's 'Sour Lettuce'. It is very important that everything is served on the same plate, to let the lettuce dressing (vinegar based) mingle with the potatoes and Perch.

Oh, and it is always 'all you can eat'.

(I am a born and raised Cleveland boy, grew up with a world class Lake Erie perch/walleye fisherman. Look for 'Huggy Bear' out of Mentor Lagoons)

Imagine the look on the chef's face if we all showed up at the one steakhouse for a group booking!

It's great to see the club expanding..I welcome the idea of a sticker/badge too. I for one would wear it with pride.

I have to add two of Brisbane's top steak restaurants to my list of places to go. Cha Cha Char's on the Brisbane River in Brisbane have the most sensational aged steaks (18 to 24 months old - yes, you did read that right), and they are at least an inch-and-a-half thick with any sort of sauce you desire. The wine list is full of Aussie merlots, shirazes, cab savs and blends (no pussy wines in this place) and the beer list is full of the most satisfying thirst quenching ales you could want.

The Norman Hotel call themselves 'Brisbane's Worst Vegetarian Restaurant' and they also specialise in aged beef with baked potatoes and salads. This is where a lot of bushies come when they arrive in Brisbane, and its good to see the blokes that rear the food also eating it.

I've dropped half a stone lately - I might have to go for honorary status soon!

Cheers

Guys, I am new to all of this posting stuff so hang with me, it may get kinda scary. I have been a BMW guy for many years and have had several BMW's since High School. For my first wife I built a pretty nice 1970's 2002 that was very clean. It was a looker back in the day. I think we had a 320i after that and eventually we split the sheets. My second wife I built he a black Mercedes wagon that was featured in Euro magazine as the fastest wagon on the planet. It went to SEMA in Vegas and the Germans flipped over the 560 SEC motor and trans stuffed in it. I am blessed to have Alex Borla as a friend so he hand bent some PHAT ol exhaust for me that made it run and sound awesome. I gave that car to her and split another set of sheets. (I have went through a lot of sheets) Now that I am 41 and a lil wiser, I built a very very nice black 328 for her. I did the Hamann 19" pg-3 wheels Borla (what else) hid lights, Carbon fiber interior not to mention, a ton more stuff. Now that we have made it more than 9 years she got the black 745i that will flip your wig. I will probably be doing a magazine submission with this car soon so look for it in Dub or another euro magazine soon. My digital is not working so I sent it back to Sony for repairs ( 707 digital) But I would love to share pictures of the car with everyone when I get it back. Description: Black on Black 745i H&R springs, DE-chromed window strips, Borla (true dual) exhaust, 22" Italia MB wheels (black) with polished stainless beauty ring. Baer Big brake kit.and more. Needless to say, we don't sleep on sheets so I will be with this one for life. I think we will finish this car and get the 05 or 06. Thanks guys for letting me share.

I built a bad ass out door kitchen in my back yard with a 60" Viking BBQ grill. The funny thing is that this is for show. I actually use a Weber grill with a temp guage on it. I hate gas grills! "You dont needs no teefes to eat my feefes" I also need a diet coke to go with those ribs.

Good morning,

Can you please tell me how I can get in touch with Simon. I am trying to locate a set of Style 5 Composite (2-pc) alloys, like the ones that he had on "Baby" for a while.

I have a White 98 740iL. I think that the Style 5 wheels will give my car a very nice sporty look, which still says luxury BMW.

I do not want to spend 750 per wheel to buy these at BMW, so if you can help me locate a reputable vendor, or a used set that are in great shape, I would appreciate it.

I also need to know tire/wheel fitments. I currently have the standard 16" basket weave alloys, with 235/55/16 Michellin MXV4 plus Energy. I want to maintain the same tire circumference.

I am also interested in a installing a spring kit, to lower the car a little. I really do not want to give up the smooth ride, I just want to give my car a little more aggresive appearance.

Can you guys help me out?

You can search his user name and send him a PM if you want to contact him. As for the wheel, there are hundreds of vendors online. I've found that www.superbuytires.com has quite a few brands/styles to choose from. Or just google the name you're looking for. Find the lowest price and then go to a local wheel shop and ask them to match it. That way you can deal with an actual person instead of an online ghost when you purchase.

As for springs, everybody wants to go lower without sacrificing ride quality. But that's not mechanically possible. You have to give up something. Go Eibach and you won't have to give up much, but it is only a mild drop. I personally just ordered the UUC springs because they drop the car a little lower and I've heard good things about them maintaining a decent ride.

I eat a variety of things but my favorite is veal parmigiana, alfredo not marinara, Ceasar salad, and fresh bread. A nice vodka/tonic would top off the meal along with a "high-fat" dessert. I think thats it.

First off, I gotta say there are some very nice 38's on here. I'd like to join yer merry band of eaters and speeders.

My Car: 1995 740i Orient Blue 57,000 miles
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 210lbs
Location: Casper, Wyoming

Food: Steak, Steak, Steak, beer, rum, did I mention STEAK? Oh, and footlong homemade chili dogs, smothered in chili's and 3 cheese's!!

I just got my 740, I've only put about 600 miles on it. Old owner blew a rod(softball sized hole in the block) at 56,000 and let it sit for about 5 years. I got it off ebay for 5,000. Got a new engine from bavarian(57,000miles) and got it installed locally for 4,800. SO I'm initially into the car for under 10k. Just got winter tires for the stock rims(existing are dry rotted), but I'm still pondering which summer rims to buy. I got lots of little things to get for it. I think the dealerhip was stealing parts off of it before they tried to sell it. I'm sure you'll be hearing lots more from me. :stickoutt I'll post pics as soon as possible.

I have to admit, I've driven alot of bimmers, but had never driven a 7 e38 until I bought this car, and I am in total heaven. Wish I would have known about it sooner!

Hey all,
I'm a self-proclaimed lurker on this site the past couple weeks, but decided to try for my "Honorary" status.

Car: 1999 750iL Jet black/Tan
Height: 6'2"
Weight: about 183 (BUT, I just started college, so we can definately expect that to go up pretty soon here, eh? I could be one a "Junior Beef Club" member!)
Favorite Meal: Appetizer: Fried Calamari, Main: 10 oz. Filet Mignon, Medium-Rare, with lots of garlic mashed potatoes and bread, Dessert: Anything!

Can't wait to start getting involved in the forums! Just bought the 750 and it's on its way as I type from Florida on top of a semi :shifty

Planned Mods:
Clear tail lights, corner lights, side markers
M-Parallel Sport Wheels
V-12 Emblems (?)- What do you guys think?
Possibly debadge (If no V-12 Emblems)
Tint windows
DDE/Angel Eyes
Shadowline Trim

I'm ready to be spoiled by the sportiness of this car, because currently I drive a '98 Lincoln Navigator, which I-unfortunately-consider to be somewhat quick and, dare I say, good handeling. :D (I know it isn't really, but its the only thing I've driven regularly, and I LOVE driving "sporty".)

If I figure out how, I'll post some pics! Hope to talk soon.

e38'er's please grant me pseudo-Beef Club status.... I'm sorting out an e32 and searching for my next e38/m73 project. Anyone know of an e38 750iL I could take on?

Car: 1990 750iL black/beige
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 180

Favorite Meal:
Appetizer: Steamed (not fried) Calamari
Main: Steak Oscar or Prime Rib- medium rare- 14oz minimum, pressure-cooked artichokes (pressure cooker makes them very creamy and tender), cheese-grit casserole (family recipe, hard to describe, rich, tangy), a glass of Fontodi Chianti Classico Riserva or Louis Felippe Edwards Merlot.

And for dessert, light and tart key-lime pie, or a glass of Peach Kijafa and fresh straberries dipped in chocolate. The strawberry/chocolate procedure requires the help of an attractive female.

Wow, there's a name from the past. Once a 7 owner, always a 7 owner, IMHO!

Plus, you had one of the nicest looking E38s around, and in my color, too.

BTW, what's a 525i sport?

Cheers.

Hey Reed! ..thanks for the greeting and the compliment on my former E38 that I sold waaaay back in 2003. I loved that car, and hated to sell it, but divorce, new job, etc.. forced me to. I just hope that dude I sold it to is taking care of it.

And to answer your question about my current car: a 525i Sport is the Sport Pkg version of the E39, which includes sport springs, sport seats and sport 3-spoke steering wheel. But of course, I had to lower it even more and got H&R Sport springs put on within a week of buying the car!

Take care ...Randy.

My favorite food would be sushi and also pasta and thai food

FOOD? My most recent cuisine experience was at BELLE ARTE in Hot Springs Arkansas. My wife and I go for the weekend every couple of months its a great drive especially the winding mountain roads west of Little Rock. We try to vacation as much as possible. We arrived at Arlington Hotel (one of Al Capones favorite digs) arround 3 in the afternoon. Valet parks the car for the evening. We check in and immediately take a hot mineral bath and an hour massage. Next shower, dress and cocktails in the lobby. Cab to the restaurant Its a very upscale Italian Restaurant. We start with cocktails and our cassical piano request (they have a full size Grand Piano in the middle of this cozy restaurant), then fresh greens with Balsamic Gorganzola Vinagarete, fresh bread w/olive spread. Now a bottle of Chianti and thee entrees. I had the Veal Shank-Bone in with marrow, on a bed of saffron rice. My wife had a Rib Eye (2" Thick and Twice as big as her head) covered in sauteed portabella mushrooms and a portabella cream sauce, fresh green beans and mashed potaoes with leeks. For desert we skipped the sweets because we were stuffed. Instead we catch a cab to the local strip club. You have got to go to a Backwoods AR strip club. First off its BYOB. We had a blast smokin cigars, drinkin our own booze and lap dances from some swe
