View Full Version : A moment of silence please....
WantingE36m 04-06-2005, 08:11 PM A moment of silence for the slain....
So, I'm driving home from work last night in a half daze and I come across the PERFECT set up. I pull into the double left turn lane and snap out of my daze. I see in the left lane a black sti, right lane a e36 m3/4. The ear to ear grin kicks in as I slow to a stop behind the black sti eagerly awaiting the green light. The light turns green, the sti takes off sharply with a roar from the after market exhaust, the m3, on the other hand, takes off as if trying to prevent the groceries from tipping over in the trunk. My inner child is screamming in disbelief. NNNNOOOOOO!!!! how can this happen! How can you go down without a fight! Instinctivly I floor it, 1st gear, 2nd gear, quickly glancing up to see how much distance is between me and the sti. Now, merely a black spec I can hardly see, About a mile and half up the road, I notice the sti turn off the highway. No doubt about it, he was afraid my 91 Subaru Legacy wagon was gonna get him on the top end so he bailed. I recheck my rear view mirror and theres the m, toolin along at 55mph in a 65mph zone. I take off my hat, turn down the radio and take part in a moment of silence............
///MacDaddy 04-06-2005, 08:15 PM :lol Thanks for the laugh. I'm assuming you at least beat the M3, not bad for a 91 Legacy wagon :alright
OT: Where in CO are you?
comptechgsr 04-06-2005, 08:26 PM The STi was afraid of the aerodynamics of the wagon. Highway killaz.
Volfinator 04-06-2005, 09:09 PM :(
Steiner 04-06-2005, 09:22 PM The M3 owner must have thought he was too good for a quick run. You know how those bimmer guys are...
M Roady 04-06-2005, 09:22 PM So this is a Legacy wagon chasing an STi (in which the driver likely never even noticed the Legacy) with an M3 in the vicinity?
As for the reasoning of the M3 driver not racing: simply not a street racer? Knows racing from a dig starting into a turn against an STi is suicide? :dunno
Was the M3 even racing? If he was going 55 in a 65, I would think not.
TrunkImpaired 04-06-2005, 09:33 PM awesome kill. you showed those stupid bimmer drivers who really owns the twisties. :devillook
WantingE36m 04-06-2005, 09:34 PM No he wasn't racing. He was listen to "rockin the oldies" and not even payin attention. Suicide, yes, but he could have at least rammed him or something. Yes I did beat the m3 with my wagon :redspot (course, he couldn't have been even at 1/4 throttle). Was more of something I witnessed that I thought could be turned into a funny kill story :D .
Later,
Mark
WantingE36m 04-06-2005, 09:38 PM OT. I live in Loveland CO and work in Boulder CO
shaikdaddy 04-06-2005, 10:55 PM A related story, not good enough to start a thread about:
I tried to bait a heavily modded in my '97 sunfire, just for shits and giggles, merely outa respect.
He just looked at me as i dipped past him and smirked and shook his head. Prolly same situation as you, the guy didnt even wanna bother.
Great kill.
Not only did you own them on the straights, but you got to drive home in a 14 year old wagon!
BMW///M3sdn 04-06-2005, 11:05 PM Psssshhh, i try to race other bimmers any time im in my 93 chevy conversion van, or the work truck (01 f-350 with 9ft bed, and work boxes). I raced a civic once in the van, i pulled about half a car from 30 to 60. Really really sad, and the civic was angry, as they should be, they just got beat by a t.v. and bed on wheels.
M Roady 04-06-2005, 11:51 PM Great kill.

Shouldn't you be locking this thread or something? :dunno
WantingE36m 04-07-2005, 12:00 AM Proudly I pat the steering wheel in the Legacy, "We'll get em next time baby, we'll get em next time..."
OT: A kill of a different kind. Its been gorgeous weather here the last couple days and this morning was no different. I show up to work and one of my female co workers tells me "Boy, you sure can tell BMW season is here" Once again that stupid ear to ear grin shows up on my face and just as I start to reply she finishes me off with a "Passed three of em on the side of the road just drivin here this morning"......I was killed.....
M Roady 04-07-2005, 12:16 AM Thoroughbreed's need to rest.
WantingE36m 04-07-2005, 12:30 AM :lol ....I'll be using that one tomorrow :redspot
giterdone 04-07-2005, 08:52 AM oh no trust me. that M3 was at WOT, we are just that damn slow. See all our stories in this kill section is all fabricated. I've been beaten by a geo metro from stop light to stop light. it isn't even pretty. ;)
///MacDaddy 04-07-2005, 10:01 AM OT again: Your avitar is hilarious. You have a bigger pic that you can post. It looks like the chipmunks cheeks are all puffed out too.

DAMN, imagine, someone not driving a bmw around like a punk in high school, ready to improve their own self image strickly because their car might be faster than someone else's. I'm shocked.

I think I was sick that day. :confused
I hear ya...sometimes I just get sick of punks thinking I'm supposed to be racing at every streetlight. Shit, I'm 35 years old....only place i race these days is at the track or in the woods :-)

Or to the bathroom!! Us old guys can't hold it like we use to.....
Another funny thread. Good value.
tbreihan 04-11-2005, 06:09 PM Not sure what it is, but in my neck of the woods, the E36 seems to attract the attention of every s*@#box Civic/Thunderbird/Cavalier/Sunfire/etc. looking for a stoplight-to-stoplight run.
I think it is hilarious to just let some of these highschoolers take off with their girlfriends and win their little 'race.' I mean, really, who looks like the fool in that situation.
Now, beating up middle-aged men with a latent driving fetish in their slushbox-equipped Acuras and Lexii, that can be entertaining.
BMW///M3sdn 04-11-2005, 07:42 PM The only time i really race young kids (young kids, im only 18 but you know the type with gh3y hondas and such) is when their girlfriend IS in the car. Makes embarrasing them even better.

that is always fun, because almsot always teh girl is the biggest cheerleader for them, and then when they lose, they never look over, and the girl is smiling or busting out laughing. :)
BMW///M3sdn 04-11-2005, 08:06 PM Exactly, because the girl was probably told that the car they are in is really fast and nothing ever beats it. And then they get beat, ah good times.

lol yep, that is why I never claimed my was the quickest. I would just state, "Pffttt, that guys car is slow, I can beat it." Also to all my friends or about any car, I would say "Hahaha, if he lost to me, he is slooowwwww!" (when I drove my prelude). But I never claim I can beat anything, i don't like setting myself up for failure. :) I clearly state, "I can beat that piece of -----" or "Unless he is heavily modded, and wasted a ton of money, he can't beat me." Then there is always the one I hate saying "Geeezzzzz, I can't touch him, he would spank my posterior all day long."

Is your sig pic from a video game?
Edit...I'm not being sarcastic or mean or anything, but is that a real picture?

No worries man. Yeah it's from Gran Turismo 4. There's a whole mode where you can take your car to like 50 locations around the world and snap some pics. I bought a PS2 and a smart card just so I can play this game and save images. It's really an addictive.
