New weekly thread for general chitchat and keeping in touch till the next meet.

I think I'll be pulling another M3 (auto :( ) and a 325ic to the meet next time around. I've been thinking about making some buisness cards up with contact info to stick on local Bimmers when I see them around town to help spread the word as well. Someone in the OKC area might think about doing the same.

Also, if anyone has any quick DIY tricks that they could write up and print off for handouts at the next meet, it might be a nice addition to our get togethers. After all its all about spreading the knowledge and helping a brotha out, right?

Hey, we saw you the other day over by Drillers Stadium, car is looking good.
I ran into OkieM3 at Crown the other day too.

The business cards could be a good idea.

When is the next meet?

Anyone want to help change a clutch in and 87 325, put TME's on the M3, or do a Short shifter in the 318ti? Yeah, the last 2 are easy.

Yeah, I gave you a honk. Depending on when you want to tackle these items, I'd love to come help out. Let me know when. Be nice to get the experience before I have to do mine......

M3 = UUC TME, home made clutch stop
318ti = Understeer Budget SSK
325 = Clutch

I did the clutch stop thing Monday night. Super simple and CHEAP! I love those kinds of projects! Along with the items in the picture below, I added a chrome "plug" that perfectly wrapped around the head of the elevator bolt. This gave a little more surface for the pedal to rest on and dressed it up a bit...... come to think of it, I was just coming from the LOWES when I saw you guys at 15th and Yale.... HA!

good stuff i just but one of these "budget" clutch stops in too. its funny but a few of my friends stall when i let them drive because of the way i have it setup. the only person who doesnt stall is my girlfriend.

Thats the one thing you will have to do, figure out how to shift all over again. It does make it quicker without the extra pedal movement but it seems really odd at first when you get back in and drive.

Anxiously waiting. Doing my trim in Cosmos would look pretty slick I think.

I've got another page saved on the home computer...I'll get to them later.
I just did my lower control arm bushings and made the tool that Chris from understeer.com describes in his write-up. Local guys/gals are welcome to use it for pressing in the new bushings.

When I did the transmission mounts I also fixed the squeaking steering wheel.

It was the lower bearing on the steering shaft. Soaked it with a wet graphite lube. Instructions here (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum///showthread.php?t=245961) I used a piece of reinforced silicone hose from the top rather than the straws fom the bottom.

Hey! That sounds like a plan! I'm going to be needing that little gizmo in a couple of weeks. I'll get in touch when the time grows near. Thanks!

Went over Saturday to help Anthony with the clutch on the E30....... um, well.... I didn't do much... he had it down to one brave nut holding the exhaust on, thats when I stepped in, gave the wrench a good tug, and snap! No, I didn't break the bolt off, but the socket split right up the side. Sorry Anthony! HA! The first BMWMOFO wrench session was over before it began...... Hey, I'm still willing to help out once the weekend rolls around again.....

we did get the short throw in already sorry, I know you said you wanted us to call when we did it - but I LOVE IT!!!! god it's great! I put it into first and I looked at Anthony and I was like "thats it, it's in gear!? - I LOVE YOU THANK YOU"

Well, even if I didn't get to help, is there a chance I can come drive it? I'd like to see the difference before I decide which one to put in mine. I feel like I am shifting a truck my throw is soooooo long.

Definately.

Its really easy to change. Definately worth the $75. Oh yeah Understeer.com: great service.

As for the E30 I'll be working on it in the evenings for the next couple of nights. Teg's B-Day is Saturday, so I don't know how much I will get to work on it then, hopefully it will be done. Then going to the Nextel Cup race on Sunday :buttrock

Wow, pretty dead in here huh?

OK, I got the Car back and all I can say is: HOLY CRAP!, I didn't know the car was supposed to run this smooth. Wish it hadn't cost $1350 to fix, but OMFG... I said I couldn't be happier with the car before... I was wrong... Its sooo much better now.
