here is some info on what a Gymkhana is: (excert from dgtrials.com) http://www.dgtrials.com/about.php

G is for Gymkhana
At first glance, a gymkhana looks like an autocross – cones, timing equipment, a pre-defined course, cars and drivers. This is where the similarities end. Gymkhana is more like an automotive obstacle course than an autocross. Where an autocross emphasizes fluid motion and finding the limits of traction without exceeding them to achieve the fastest time around a predefined course (much like a smaller version of a road racing circuit), gymkhana emphasizes course memorization, driving techniques and vehicle momentum. Complex, tight maps constructed in small areas guide drivers through 360s around pointer cones, loop-back slaloms and handbrake turns - the list of obstacles is long and the difficulty high. A winning gymkhana car could be a high powered rear drive car like a 240SX or RX7, but it could just as easily be a small and agile front drive car like a Mini Cooper or Honda Civic. Anything can happen at a gymkhana event, so preparation and a sharp mind are key because sometimes getting the course right is the most difficult part!

ok here is the deal:

Motorsport of OU "Automotive Exhibition"
Including: an "Autocross/Gymkhana Exhibition," "Bike Stunting Exhibition," and Vendors area
When: Saturday April 30, 2005 10:00 - whenever we get tired

OK guys this is going to be extremely fun (especially if you want to participate)! here is the run down:

We have the course setup and it is going to be pretty fun with some pretty nice turns. The course will be an integrated Drift/Autocross (Gymkhana) layout in a two lap style. We need a minimum of 20 drivers to participate but we will be capping the total amount of drivers to 35 drivers (which is a little generous). If you definetely want to run then you have to tell me no later than next Friday April 15, 2005. Like I said, we have a limited amount of slots available but I can tell you that we have about 15 confirmed already. Now the juicy stuff.

Cost:
$40.00 per car with a maximum of 2 drivers per car (you and another guy can go half on it for a single car). This $40.00 means that you will be able to run all day (from 10:00am to whenever your car breaks, you run out of gas, run out of tires, you get tired, your girl/guy complains, etc.). also with this price you will not be required to work/ watch cones. What we will ask is that you volunteer maybe 1.5 hours of your time while you are resting to help out.

Schedule:
be at the Lloyd Noble Center no later than 830am.
8:40 - Tech Inspections (includes standard inspection of battery tie down, interior inspection, brakes, etc.)
9:30 - Driver's meeting to go over run schedule, track, safety, and rules.
10:00 - First car out
12:00 - Lunch Break
1:30 - 2nd tech inspection and start of Competition
?:?? - ends when we end it.

What you need to bring:
- A car to drive
- Water (we will have vendors but if you want your own bring it)
- Helmet (we will have limited quantity of lowner helmets)
- a good attitude

Competition:
1 award for Best Stylish drifting
1 award for Fastest Time Outright

Confirmation:
If you want to participate, please email, call, or pm me ASAP so i can put you down. NOTE** if you confirm then you are bound to pay the $40.00 unless you can find a suitable replacement. When you confirm, I will email you a "Confirmation Form" that you must sign and return to me before first car out. Here is my info.

Vendors:
We will have some vendors there including car shops and food. More info on that to come. We are talking to Big-O tires to bring a tire changing machine (especially for the drifters). So thats just a little info on that.

April BMWMOFO Meet:

Well if you dont want to run, then the rest of you guys can come anytime. I'de say try and come before 1:00 so that you can catch some crazy bike stunts and the drifting. I saw a taste of the drifting and it is pretty wild (crazy japanese!!!). Anyways, we can all meet up at the event, then lets say 7:00 ish cruise to the restaraunts and do the usual eating bit. after we can cruise 39th, take pictures, chill, etc. i will pm everyone on the interest list again.

very cool - I don't think I'll run (not sure about Anthony) but we will deff. come - not sure if we will drive both cars down there or just 1 - might drag some freinds to just watch and enjoy so we can drive both cars and not drive alone, if that is cool??

yea that is one thing that we were worried about but this is the only day OU would give us. :shifty but hey we should be running longer than the SCCA regionals and you can still come get some food with us after. also you know mike since im in charge of this thingy maybe i can slip you in if you want to run later on in the day. :evil2 i think Kyle said that he and chris may stop by after they get back from TWS.

There's a plan! Depending on the run/work order for my SCCA class, I may get done early enough to make it for a couple runs :D
How far is this event from Remington Park?

hmmm from remington park, its probably about 15 minutes, 20 minutes tops. you just have to go south on I-35, then East HW9, then left on Jenkins. you should see it on the left (or probably hear it). :buttrock

If any of you are interested in running your cars, please contact me @ WeiBCompact@cox.net or (405) 314-1989. i need to know by this FRIDAY (APRIL 15, 2005). ide like to see more BMWs participate in this but it is ok if you all just want to watch. as of now we are swamped with Nissan 240SX (Silvia S13s and S14s to be exact). all modified and ALL with turbos (with the Japanese only SR20DET motors!!!!). it will be fun!!!!!!!!!

He does have mismatched rims but only when he is drifting. But his car isn't slammed and his name is Terry.

On editting You tell me the size you would like and i can get it there. it will be in mpg format using quicktime.

finally an E46! woohoo!! hey i have some E46 Coupe clears that I am going to give you (even though you dont need them). I will be up at the meet the entire day. since you guys arent running ide say to meet at maybe 200pm-ish if that is ok. curt? Lloyd Noble is slapping us with a restriping fee so we are actually going to have to charge like $1.00 for parking if that is cool. it would be nice to get all of us to park together. i'll see what I can do. maybe we can all park at a different lot.

Sounds great! I really appreciate the enthusiastic response! The $1 parking fee is no problem at all, I'm just looking forward to this event. My wife's birthday is on the 30th and we're supposed to do something with her family for lunch so hopefully it will be finished by 2pm. I will be there as soon as I can. Did Jed say something about free "clears"? :D

yup you heard right. free e46 coupe clears. i really dont know why i have them and when i try to sell them people are like ehhhhh thats ok. i have even tried selling them for $5.00 for the sole reason that I dont have an e46 but no one will even give me $5. they are like they must be broken to go for that price. nope they are in great condition. they are yours bud and you can sell them for $20 if you want.

Pauls323Ci
04-16-2005, 06:18 PM
Thanks! I'll hold on to them and use them later on. :)
