View Full Version : May 19th: calling all Star Wars pimps, hos, and playas...
markb50k 04-06-2005, 09:16 AM ...otherwise known as nerds, geeks, and dweebs :).
As you may or may not know, the final installment of the Star Wars dual-trilogy (hexology??) will be opening in wide release Thursday, May 19th. As I do for all of these movies, I attend the MIDNIGHT showing (Wednesday night/Thursday morning) and would think it cool to do a BMW get-together with those of like interests.
EDIT: I have bought tickets for the 12:01AM Thursday morning showing at
Regal Arbor Place Mall 18
6600 Douglas Blvd, Douglasville, GA, 30135
I am a proud and unabashed Star Wars freak, but I am not a costume wearer variety of fan, so if you want to get dressed up like Boba Fett you are more than welcome to :devillook
Let's have a good time of it and celebrate the final installment of the most successful sci-fi franchise ever. I am completely spoiled (I basically know everything that is going to happen) and from what i have seen so far it will be the darkest, most action-packed, and emotional episode by far.

:devillook :rofl ;)
I'm so disappointed. From the title of this thread, I thought we were going to have a meet at the Player's Ball. :pimpflash

bcart1991 04-06-2005, 09:48 AM The Regal off I-85 will be PACKED. If they have a midnight showing here in Douglas-Hell, it won't be that bad. Rednecks aren't the biggest Star Wars fans...

there will no doubt be some of those folks, and then the real interesting folks who will go against the grain so to speak and wear spock ears to a star wars movie LOL. so for those of you who live via the ridicule of others, this will be right up your alley...
as for the players ball, this will be alot safer. worst could happen there is you get bonked by a nerf lightsaber.
Sparc_it 04-06-2005, 11:14 AM I'll be in Miami...sorry
If I'm still in Atlanta around that time I'm all for it. Unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen(give me a freakin' job people!!!).

Jean-Claude 04-06-2005, 02:31 PM I am looking foward to it but I can't bring myself to watch a 12am showing when I can see the afternoon show the next day w/ next to no one in the theatre. I am a big fan but not quite that big. :stickoutt

Fixed it for you. :devillook :rofl
j/k, of course. ;) The trailers for this one actually look like it'll be a departure from the previous dreck and be pretty interesting.

They have Nerf ones now?? Wuss! Old-school, '70's-era, hard plastic lightsabers pwnz j00! :buttrock :biglaughb

markb50k 04-06-2005, 06:49 PM hmmm... anyone else get the suspicion that Doctor Wha knows of the antics of sci-fi geeks a little too well from his past?
just a thought..
come on Doc... let your geekdom flow through you... surrender to the dork side...

i still havent seen the remastered original 4,5,6 or the new 1,2, yet
markb50k 04-21-2005, 09:45 AM UPDATE: I bought tickets for the 12:01 AM on Thursday, May 19th (considered a Wednesday showing) at
Regal Arbor Place Mall 18
6600 Douglas Blvd, Douglasville, GA, 30135
Doubt you will have much trouble just showing up, but I won't be taking any chances. Tickets are available at Fandango.com
Figure it would be a safer location compared to the Regal Hollywood 24 @ I85
bcart1991 04-21-2005, 10:10 AM Did you buy one for me? :confused
Oh well, I can just pick some up this weekend for anyone else who wants them.
markb50k 04-21-2005, 11:22 AM I bought two. My brother might be in town, but otherwise, its available for a small fee (like a large popcorn and coke).
DaneA4 04-21-2005, 07:52 PM I suddenly feel so uncultured . . . I've never seen a single Star Wars movie.
Ever. But I also drive an Audi, go figure.

Wow... Just about the only thing weirder than someone who has seen Star Wars material way too much is someone who has never seen it at all... :confused

Ill second that. I have yet to see one...ever. I'm the biggest nerd you'll ever meet but I've never jumped on to the whole Star Wars craze.
I suddenly feel so uncultured . . . I've never seen a single Star Wars movie.
You ain't missing much. Movies are very overrated.
markb50k 04-22-2005, 04:48 PM right... they are no oscar winning movies by any stretch when it comes to the criteria the Academy uses, but for cool special effects, great sound, and a complete story arc that's never been done before, you can't do better.
overrated by whom? its never been a critical hit. its just a sci-fi movie with alot of action and shots that no one had ever seen before. in fact, the opening shot of the first Star Wars back in 1977 was voted the most memorable moment in film history ever.
if you havent seen any of the movies, you are missing out. Even if you dont like it overall, you will like SOMETHING about it, cuz they are too much of a visual experience for something not to be COOL to you. So, you dont need to be 'caught up in a craze' just to see THE movies that started the summer blockbuster phenomenom.
BimmerKat 05-04-2005, 10:43 AM I came across this at dinner last night. Thought some of you Star Wars fans might be interested. :D

markb50k 05-04-2005, 11:14 PM LOL. Pretty wacky huh? Never had the urge to do the dressup stuff but different strokes for different folks yknow.
So you were at C3 huh? I DL'd a bootleg of the 7 minutes of footage Rick McCallum showed at C3 and it looked awesome.
Jean-Claude 05-04-2005, 11:28 PM omg hahaha
someone spent about $8-10k on that paint job I bet. LOL
WytLytnyn 05-05-2005, 12:18 PM I thought Darth Vader would be driving a Cadillac Broughham with chandileirs mounted to the fenders (ala the "Duke" in Escape from NY)......
ya know, "keepin' it real...representin' da Empire ya bitches...."
I'm not a liberty to disclose that figure, but it was higher than that... The paint job is top notch, however. Can't say I would have done that to my viper, but it's for the fans.
And the car is going to be given to some lucky fan who entered to win it...
Doctor Wha 05-05-2005, 02:54 PM I thought Darth Vader would be driving a Cadillac Broughham with chandileirs mounted to the fenders (ala the "Duke" in Escape from NY)...

markb50k 05-11-2005, 05:57 PM Bump.
Not really sure who is going still.
1. Mark (+2 or +3)
2. Carter
3. Andy??
Anyone else?
Just so you know if you are planning on going, its probably going to be packed even in little ol' Douglasville. When I bought my first ticket, they had 1 screen scheduled to do the midnight. When I was searching for a ticket for my wife they had 3 screens. Today, its FIVE.
I guess the critical buzz is getting the word out...
Sparc_it 05-12-2005, 12:50 AM Is that chick in blue preggo? She is gross. I see you got a shot of Jabba The Hut in between the 2 M&M's.
WytLytnyn 05-12-2005, 04:58 PM I wonder how much it'll cost to repaint the Viper after he can't pick up chicks in it or sell it to anyone who isn't a Star Wars freak.....?
Growing up in Northern Virginia, I had a neighbor that painted his Chevy van with a similar style "tribute mural" to the Redskins after they won the Super Bowl under Gibbs in the 80's......pretty soon I think he found out how cool he was when a Dallas Cowboys fan threw a brick through the large "bubble heart" window (that he had painted over)toward the rear of the vehicle. At least they didn't steal the pimp Cragar mags.....
