Folks:

Do people running relatively stock '02s using some sort of gasoline additive or are you running unleaded ? Any problems with running straight unleaded ?

When my 02 was stock and when I had another stock 02 I just put regular unleaded 87 in the car.

my tii likes super, so thats what I give it. Higher compression than standard 02s so maybe thats it

I run 93 in my project racecar, but it has 11.0:1 compression so it needs it.

Unleaded is fine.

I run premium because I want power, and thats what I set my timing for.

I use 93 octane unleaded with 9.5:1 compression.

It's really two questions -
Unleaded vs leaded
Octane for what you need.

Our engines are fine with unleaded.

Octane wise- I have 9.5:1 pistons and use premium UL (91 or 92) without fail. Even at that, I have had to retard the timing a shade to avoid detonation. Been that way since 1987 when I rebuilt the engine. :D At that time, I had a 32/36 Weber installed. A couple of years back, I installed a 38DGAS (and mech advance dist with Pertronix) and can run a bit more static timing.
FWIW - I HIGHLY recommend the combo I have. :D

I agree 100%. I have the same combo and love it. Lotsa torque!

Especially after removing the old rusty header and rattly exhaust and replacing it with a tii manifold and stock resonator/muffler combo.
