I posted this everywhere else i thought relevant, so why not here? it's bmw related, and damnit if I don't live in GA. :D

Who has an OBD-I E36 or E34 with a 413 ECU? (raise your hands all you M50tu people.) Who wants to be able to mess around with the fuel and timing maps in the stock ECU? then click the link (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=338847)

I have a 413. :D I also have a Dinan chip (currently in there), stock chip, and 2 ACS chips from ebay. May the games begin.

If there is a list of editable hexes, I might be able to write a front end program to change things like that and make it easier on the beginners.

techno - do you already have a chip burner? I've thought about burning my own ROMs, but since the price to get into it is very nearly what it costs to have a GOOD ROM tune done by a very knowledgable guy I was always a bit hesitant.

Plus I'd need to get a daughterboard soldered into my ECU so that ups the entry fee(and potential for a dead ECU at the end of it with a bum daughterboard) - damn Nissan for not using socketed chips after '90.

Real E34's don't have m50tu's.

Thats right, they have M20's. As can be seen my M20 powered E34's (like mine) being faster than M30 powered E34's (like yours). M60 powered E34's are also acceptable.

oh, almost forgot. S38 powered E34's are *proper* as well.

Hmmm... I would say I'd give the ROM tuning thing a go - but since I'd have to buy a burner myself to make regular changes I guess it doesn't change much.

How much did your burner cost you?

Burner was only ~$60 iirc. A willem or some such I think. (its at the shop. :dunno) You're welcome to use it here / borrow it if needed. If you want one on campus, they should also have a few spare burners in the EE labs. if you have a bin, I doubt the lab techs would notice you running in there between classes seeing as it takes all of 30 seconds to write a chip. :)

I think I might wait around for this daughterboard some guy is making that allows you to write chips via a USB cable to the ECU(and do some datalogging). Seems like it won't cost that much more than a daughterboard + burner + chips and will make it tons easier to make quick changes and see what the results are.

Anymore info on this? I still have the 2 chips available for playing with.
