What's a popular high or ultra high performance tire choice for summer ? I'm looking at 14" 185/60's or 195/55's. Stock '02 1976 dry-weather driver. I'm inclined toward the 185's actually, since the 195/60's I currently have on the car rub the fender a bit. Thanks !

Whoops ! I realized I wasn't quite clear what I meant. I'm looking for tire brands. Ex: Dunlop SP Sport 8000s, Pirelli P6000s, etc.

Yokohama AVS ES100 tires are available in 185/60 HR14. Tire Rack has them for $68 each.

Another good choice is the Bridgestone Potenza G009. They have 'em for $54 each.

Back in the day i liked running the A008r's during the summer. Had them mounted on Ronal Turbo wheels. Super grippy tires. For the summer I would'nt hesitate running any "R" compound DOT tire.

Thanks, I'll probably go for the Yokes. Anyone on the forum with experience on them ?

Also, I'd like to get a good light 14" wheel without losing the stock look. Any suggestions ?

did you have trouble with the tire rubbing on the front or the rear of the car?

Wide sticky tires are no fun :(

Front on full lock. Seems likely it's rubbing on the fender, but it could also be the tie rod, I'm not sure.. Will check. These were 195/60's on the car. Since I don't think it makes a big difference going to 185/60's (in terms of traction) and it drops the car back to slightly under stock overall diameter, I'll probably go with 185/60's.

I had the same rubbing problems with my car (wheels are E30 basketweaves) and decided to change to Yoko 185/60's. As you say, slightly less diameter than stock 165/13's, but i am happy with them.
