Anybody know a good mechanic in the OKC/Norman area who will let me order a suspension kit online and then install it without giving me a bunch of crap about how they have to make $$ off the parts in order to stay in business, bla, bla, etc.??? Thanks in advance.

I had my e30 worked on at Penn auto.

They did good work but didn't speak awesome english. They could have totally over charged me but didn't.

There is also the guy by i-35 imports. But every time I've talked to him on the phone he has been a real jerk.

Penn Automotive is nice and so is Bavarian Autohaus. if you have the place to do it and the tools to do it with i can help you do it ourselves. maybe we can make a project day for the next meet.

Are you talking springs only or springs and struts? Either way it can be a PIA if we can't get the right tools to handle it. I'd recomend H&R sports to start with.....

I am talking about doing springs and shocks maybe new sways. I haven't really decided on which kit to get. I am kinda leaning toward the UUC Sachs kit from Understeer. Or I may just order some basically stock stuff off of shox.com. I need to do something though. . .I am on the stock stuff w/ 142K miles. . .

I know what you mean about the guys just off of I-35. I have had them do work on my car before and they did a great job at a reasonable price but when I spoke to them about bringing in a suspension kit they went off; talking about how they had to make $$ off the parts and how people like me and the internet were killing their profits and how I should just put the stock suspension stuff back on, etc. etc. They were the ones I was talking about when I said bla, bla, etc. in my original post.

Hey Jed what is up man, it has been awhile. I have been too busy to spend much time on the board.

yea its been a while. you'll have to go to a BMWMOFO meet one of these days. we had some good times.

man the guys at Bavarian Autohaus know their stuff, but they are a little snobby. last time i went there they were like, "why are you not bringing in your car more often" like i was stupid and i didnt know how to maintain a car. hell buy the stuff and we will do it! BMWMOFO project day.

you're such a badass... you crack me up :rofl

Aside from that, I would like to know all of the parts that everyone suggests replacing when doing the suspension for the front and rear. I'd like to do this but don't just want to do the shocks/struts/springs. I'm talking about the whole works. What all do you need? And what are the estimated costs for performance replacements?

A comprehensive list would be nice.

Telling me to do teh search = teh ban :shifty

first to post such a list will win an e-cookie :wave

upper strut mounts, strut mount reinforcement plates (from M3), E46 or ground control rear shock mounts, rear shock mount reinforcement plates from MZ3, if you want, new lower control arm bushings, sway bar bushing, sway bar endlinks (front and rear), the control are itself if you want to (probably dont need to), and that is all i can think of for now (other than springs/struts/shocks).

yes sir you should get them. especially since our cars are getting older, you will see how deformed our upper strut towers have become. they are a good piece of insurance if you want to keep the car a while longer.

haha im fast in everything andy! (well except my car and uhhh yea)
