These are the first photos of the upcoming M version of the BMW 3-Series Coupe. It can be recognized from the two big exhaust pipes at the rear and the large air intakes below the front license plate. Power for the Coupe and the upcoming Convertible comes from a variety of six-cylinder engines ranging from a 180-hp, 2.2-liter in-line six to a 258-hp, 3.0-liter six. The M3 will get a 4.0-liter V-8 delivering around 400 hp.

It's clearly masked, so you won't be able to tell details. The basic proportions don't look very BMW though, which kinda sucks.

No way! that thing is so fugly. I was thinking about buying one too. Hopefully bmw will redesign it before it hits the states.

If you look carefully at where the panels meet, you can get an idea of where the contour lines land on the real car. The hood, for example.

And I agree...you can't tell sh_t from this picture as to what the car will look like. Maybe general proportions. But the lines in the e90 sedan are nowhere on the car. It's far too camo'ed for people to say it's going to look "good" or "bad" when it does come out.

Yes, no one cares about the people in the cheap seats - but they dont seem spacious. Plus the driver has the seat all the way to the front, not e-baller styles.

I guarantee you wont want to sit in the back of the new m3. Happy? :D

The car has deffinitely been masked, i highly doubt thats what the new 06 is really going to look like.

Is it me, or does the last picture look like it is a convertable? The top is not painted and the c-pillar does not blend into the rear quarter panel. Looks more like a hardtop. The plates are different, so it definitely is a seperate car.

I also doubt they are M's even with the dual pipes. The rear tires look skinny IMO. Usually the mules have regular size rubber, even if they are in camo. Maybe the coupe and vert are getting duals.

It looks like they are doing some engine and chassis testing. The body is not going to turn out like that.

I just love it how some of you guys are quick to judge a car that is so heavily disguised. BMW isn't stupid.....the 3s have been the benchmark by which all other brands in the same market segment are measured by (both styling and performance) so it doesn't surprise me to see this test mule looking just like......well, a mule. I'm reserving my comments for when some press release photos from BMW are released.

I will give the camo-styling staff points for doing a very good job of covering up a lot of the details to keep folks such as those here guessing/speculating/criticizing about what the next ///M3 will look like.

Yeah did anyone notice how obviously added-on the rear deck is? It is obviously there to throw people off. The M3 will always have a close tie to the normal three series cars (with added flares, bumpers, etc.) That mule looks NOTHING like the normal e90 which we now see in production. So dont worry too much!

seriously, this thread is filled with tard-buckets. The only thing that might be visible that will show-up on the e90 M is the lower bumper. Everything else is pure camo.

The front looks more MG than BMW in those pictures.
