Preparing to replace / upgrade the suspension on my '83 320i (would like to lower 1" to 1 1/2 " or so). I am leaning toward Bilstein Sport shocks and a set of progressive rate springs. (it is a daily driver & though I occassionaly drive it hard on the road, it never sees the track or true race environment).

My goal is to 'firm' up the ride and increase the fun factor without making it too harsh. I have a friend that runs Ireland Engineering springs and I like the ride but could not find a set for my E21 on their we site.

Any recommendations for a quality set of progressive rate springs?

Any I should specifically avoid?

Can I lower it 1" to 1 1/2 " without affecting the camber?

H&R is probably your best bet.

Yes camber will be effected, its unavoidable unless the addition of a camber kit is also installed. With a 1-1/2" drop your looking at -6 degrees of camber in the rear
