Does anyone know if the PC 334 (Random Orbital Sander 5") can be used for polishing? I only ask beacuse I already own this. Can't seem to find any old posts regarding this subject. The RPM for this unit is 12,000. Thanks.

will it run slower? thats fast as sht for a polishing tool.

I do not know. I got the RPM info off the Porter Cable website. I was hoping to be able to use this unit in lieu of buying a different one.

It's not variable speed so 12,000 is the only speed you've got. Also, it's for adheasive backed sand paper, so it's not going to be easy to attach pads...then there's the vacuum feature of it.

You'd be better off spending the money and getting the 7336....12K is paint burn speed.
