View Full Version : rd sways installed last night! INSANE!
bähnstormer 03-30-2005, 01:45 PM rd sways are to an e34 as birth control pills are to sex
the difference is incredible...
getting the rear sway out was a BITCH with the exhaust in
the way, but i got em in and medium (of 3) position in the front
and full stiff (of 2) position in the rear combined with my summer
kumho 712's @ 235 , 255 made my car handle incredible welll
as i pushed it on the off/on ramps it felt really really stable, almost
as if it was taunting me "is this the fastest u can go?" hehheheh
it felt so confidence inspiring!
thank to kevin and sam for the help, and DTC Designs for the shop
5mall5nail5 03-30-2005, 01:58 PM Thank god you finally fukcing installed them, I don't know why you waited so. Also, I don't think birth controll pills have any effect on the experience of sexual intercourse...
jimmyz2 03-30-2005, 02:09 PM Man it's about time.Bigger sways are #1 mod for suspension. And Yes,birth control pills allow trojan delete= greater and better handling. :)
bähnstormer 03-30-2005, 02:43 PM jimmy knows where i'm at =]

vtbimmer 03-30-2005, 07:18 PM Nice! One step closer to rails :)
abakos 03-30-2005, 07:34 PM Where would one buy these sways? I'm facing a suspension overhaul (I'm thinking Koni's w/GC setup :evil2 ), and sways are on the list. I've found that I am complete incapable of replacing anything with stock parts if a better solution is available.
(that's how I wound up with the flywheel :) )
I've heard excellent things about the RD Sways, but shocks first for sure.
Mblaster 03-30-2005, 09:05 PM Now get a camber kit on there and she'll really go around corners.
Cereal Killa 03-30-2005, 09:20 PM u put that diff in?
It's either going to be tomorrow or the following weekend after the body shop is done with her.

Cacatfish 03-31-2005, 03:58 AM From what I have gathered the ideal for E34 is full soft front RD sway and full stiff rear. Then get'cher -1 or -2 degress front camber and get some great balance! :redspot
bähnstormer 03-31-2005, 11:05 AM the lowest price i could find on teh sways was 390 and that is on
RD Usa's website...
so i went to bav auto in NH and said price match this boys, and
sure enuff they did....

5mall5nail5 04-01-2005, 02:00 PM I was under the impression RD Sways were green.

well you were wrong, bitch. ;)
Mobius20 04-01-2005, 05:33 PM Bastards stole Dinan's color. NOT COOL.
:D
Keep an eye on those heim joints for the rear bar.. I've been hearing not-so-great things about their longevity. It's kind of a bad place to use an open bearing.
AutoCouture 04-01-2005, 08:08 PM Thank god you finally fukcing installed them, I don't know why you waited so. Also, I don't think birth controll pills have any effect on the experience of sexual intercourse...

Cacatfish 04-01-2005, 08:10 PM I was under the impression RD Sways were green.
They were. I wonder if the color change has something to do with the whole RD, RDSport split...?
jimmyz2 04-01-2005, 09:23 PM They were. I wonder if the color change has something to do with the whole RD, RDSport split...?
Yea,RD was/is green and RD Sport is blue. :confused
My heim joints at the back failed after 15K miles. $100 bucks to replace them. I hear the secret is to keep them greased up to prevent water/dirt from getting in them. But if they fail again, I'm going to try to make my own like Rob Levinson suggests on UUC.
bähnstormer 04-02-2005, 12:15 PM what if i wraped em in heat shrink?
that'll keep the dirt outta em right?
I think the tubing would be constantly coming off from the movement/road debris. I think my failure was exceptionally premature. If you keep them greased it should be fine.
