View Full Version : 18" M Parallels on a 318ti
Slynke 03-30-2005, 10:15 AM I know I said before that I would "sure-as-hell-not" buy 18s, but as with the majority of the people who have said that, I have been suckered in by the M Parallels. Now heres the questions I am having:
1. What do you guys think of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7963464853&category=43958
2. They are the 18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear. Will they fit my 318ti?
3. Will I need to roll the fenders?
4. What tire size would you recommend for front and rear? I wan't to keep as close to stock ride height as possible, since I am going to be lowering it soon. I looked at TireRack, and have an idea of the size THEY recommend, but I need the more experienced tire-peoples opinons. (I'm probably going to end up buying Perelli PZeros).
Thanks guys!
luckytopher 03-30-2005, 10:48 AM why "sure as hell not" 18s?
i think the parallels would look great
dcardenas 03-30-2005, 10:53 AM That particular auction is for a set of 5 or 7 series wheels. You need a wheel that will support a compatible offset. Also, 9.5" may. be too wide. I experience pretty harsh rubbing with 9"
Sure as hell not? Suckered in? You got issues. And those wheels will not fit your car.
RickyCe 03-30-2005, 12:10 PM sorry to dissapoint.. but i really want m-parallels on my 325i also, so ive done some research and i know for a fact those wheels will not fit on your car.. i dont think rolling your fenders will work either.. im almost positive.. the offset on those wheels are not for 3 series.. the back wheels will stick out around 1.5 inches outside your fender... not good..
luckytopher 03-30-2005, 12:15 PM there are m-parallel replicas (more cost efficient anyways) on ebay that fit e36
MP525i 03-30-2005, 12:17 PM um, they should fit fine. just go 8"s all around.
i fit them on my m3 no problem and people have put them on their e36 325's. just make sure you're getting the replica's and NOT oem!! oem m parallel's will not fit. (well they can, but it's mad $$$ to do it)
should have no problem with fitment.
another thing to consider is what type of replica you'll be getting. there's three types:
italian: prone to cracking a lot easier of the 3.
asian: more durable but will fade a lot quicker (yellow grime look)
american: best of the best. these are durable and the shine will endure the elements. (i bought the american made wheels from rim pro).
give rimpro a call and get a little more information.
great choice in wheel though! :)

yeah the replicas will fit fine.. your right.. he's looking at the replicas for 5 & 7 series though, staggered, with i believe a 14 and 20 or so offset.. those offsets shouldnt fit a 3 series...
MP525i 03-30-2005, 12:43 PM well the e-bay add is from the wheel exchange. i can tell you right now that they suck. i tried dealing with them for 2 months and they kept giving me some bs story that the wheels were out of stock, they were in stock, than magically out of stock again (AFTER charging my credit card). just BS.
i say call rimpro. i got the best service there and i know they have the replica's to fit a 3er.

RickyCe 03-30-2005, 01:14 PM how much did they run you? (if you dont mind)
MP525i 03-30-2005, 08:31 PM don't mind at all.
total invoice was $1,028.00 w/ shipping included.

AlaskaBlue 03-30-2005, 10:07 PM I have BBSs nearly very similar to that on my 318ti. Mine however are 17 and 8.5 inches wide. No rubbing. I also think the look nice. I would post a pic, but I am not sure how.

Is that with tires? Because I'm looking to spend around 1000-1200 for rims & tires combined...
MP525i 03-31-2005, 10:24 AM no, that's just rims... but i think that's a pretty good deal for 18"s that look as hot as them. i feel the replica's are better than oem, because oem doesn't have the machined finish and polished lip. very striking. i have pics if you want to see them.
i got s-03's so that was another $800 bones. just take the dive and get some high performance tires with the parallels...you won't be disappointed and you WILL get compliments.
it was a summer day- i was driving through town with my windows open. i come to a stop sign in my town and a guy yells out his window "awesome wheels! what do you use to clean them?" i just said soap and water. he's like "i have the same wheels and can't get them to shine like that!!" obviously he had the oem's and i didn't want hold up traffic to tell him that.

RickyCe 03-31-2005, 11:54 AM those wheels do look great... obviously you had to lower the car.. what springs/shocks did u use??
Slynke 03-31-2005, 04:17 PM That's just not in my budget. Like I said, final price has to be within $1200 right now... Oh well
MP525i 03-31-2005, 04:24 PM i would say then wrap 'em in toyo t1-s's. they are about $200-250 cheaper than s-03's.
if you're really strict on the $1200 max, then i would just hold off on wheels until you can do this. these wheels are very hot and i would save up. i might actually be buying an m coupe soon and i'll be slapping them on my ride if i do get it.

Daved 03-31-2005, 04:34 PM First decide what tire size you want to run. Do you want 225 all around? 225 front, 245 rear? 245 all around?
