Well so much for my beloved e21. Thieves busted the rear window and tore out the center console along with my $400 cd player. The damage to the car alone is over $1000. My insurance is most likely going to total the vehicle and leave me with a performance suspension sitting in my garage. I am looking to see if people are interested in any parts off my car. I have new front fenders, fairly good condition front and rear bumpers, fully rebuild cylinder head with new injector seals, 4 used bilstein sport shocks in great condition, blue Suspension Techniques lowering springs, very good condition fuel distributor, Tenzo R cone filter that bolts to the 80-83 air flow meter, 80 amp Delco alternator with proper belts and spacers to mount, 16 inch hayden electric fan that cools the car to the max and all the other goodies. If there is sufficient interest, I will post pics of the car. These are all the parts that I will take off the car before they total it because I can't get value for them.

If you do part out your car, I'd like to get a couple fuel lines, someone thieved those lines off my car.
Thanks, and sorry about your loss,
Jake

I could use the lowering springs and sport shocks.
I have a buddy who has his 320i apart for ten years and he cut the factory springs with a torch. They crumbled an he never put it back together.

The car is apart in the basement of his house.

So i can use the suspension.
Can I have dibs on it?

thanks

Wow man that really sucks, very sorry to hear about this.

There is nothing you can do to rebuild it your self? Seems like you need a new rear window and a center console. This shouldnt be more that $500 total I would think. Try and piece it together rather than just give up.

If you decide to part it out, how much do you want for the whole suspension setup (ie the shocks and ST springs)?

Holy Crap Man! I can't even imagine what you're feelin at this moment. Did they get the chicken-shit bastards that did it? Somebody outta tie em to a bumper with a rope and troll for staters on the highway! Seriously though I'm with Blitzed. I know it's definitely a setback but you've got a lot of dough and hours into her. Consoles and windows can be had and I think if you get rid of her you'll just end up kickin your self in the butt for it later. When they total it they should take like $100 for you to buy it back. That's what they did when an S.O.B. ran a stop sign and T-boned my wifes '83 320i. Hope all comes out well in the end my friend. Let us know if there's anything we can do!!

Fixing the car myself with parts from a wrecker would be only about 110 CAD. But then I'm out a 400 cd player with 2 years of warranty left on it. My main plan is to up the value of my car enough with the work I've done to it to get what I've spent on the car and buy something in better shape. I paid 450 USD for the 4 shocks and springs, so I'd really like to get that money back. The parts were not installed but I bought them used. Just so everyone knows, I live in Canada, but I don't have any problem shipping to the US of course. Just post what you're interested in and I'll know tomorrow what is going on. I would love to keep the car and restore it, but if I can get the value out of it, I will because it needs much more work as well. They even took my brand new seatbelt pads that I bought from Hong Kong. I'll know who stole my stuff for sure, cuz there's no way that anyone else will have the same pads I did. How would you guys like to pay for this stuff? I can post on ebay with buy it nows for the price you guys would like to pay. I also have 2 new tie rods and a LH control arm for 77-78 that I mistakenly bought and a RH control arm for all other models. The suspension is the main thing I would like to have a buyer for because it is the most expensive thing that I've bought for the car so far. Thanks for the support boys, I know I haven't been on here very long, but I do know a lot about these cars and hate to see mine in jeopardy. I bet I'm the only guy with an E21 with Camaro Buckets seats in their car. I know I'd love to stay that way, but if need be, I must search for another e21 in better shape.

I'd like to call dibs on the tie rods, and the control arms. I assume they are brand new, never installed parts, right? Lemforder or Meyle brand? I'm in Vancouver, so shipping via Greyhound would be cheap and easy.

Let me know about the parts.

If you didn't read my post, the control arms are different. I did buy a control arm for >78 cars (LH) for 39 US and I can sell you the proper set for >78 cars, just so you know. You can have the tie rods for a good price, I just have to look to see what I paid for them. They are one of the two brands (can't remember) and they will definitely be cheaper than buying aftermarket or dealer stuff. And the control arms will be 80 US I think unless you think that's too high. I do want to get my cash back as the stuff is new.

For the guys wanting the suspension parts, I paid 150 US for the springs and 300 US for the shocks which is much lower than retail. I would really like to get close to this amount out of them as I believe they are worth it as I did not install them.

If the car is written off, I won't have access to the fuel lines and main stuff on the car. Everything I listed previously will be fair game. Too bad I can't get that engine out. It's rebuilt with less than 30,000 km on it with a new clutch last year and a replaced tranny linkage setup.

I'll let you guys know what happens with the insurance tomorrow and we'll get everything sorted out. I am hoping to find another 320i though, so don't think I'm going to abandon it. I have a scoop on a parts car that I might swap VINs with and keep mine as a parts car. Thanks for the support guys!

I could use the turn signal switch (the one on the steering column) and the alternator... I wouldn't mind getting the suspention but i probably couldn't out bid the other askers on them since I only have about $250.00 (usd) to spend on shocks/struts....my shocks are completly hosed the whole car bounces over bumps and sways side to side like a boat at sea....and that was only after a .6 mile run around the block lol....

Yeah, my post should have read "control arm", as in 1. If it's Lemforder or Meyle, I'll take whatever side you have that will fit an 81. Please let me know the brands of both tie rods, and the control arm you have that fits an 81.

Well I'm still an e21 driver! Insurance wouldn't give me nearly the price I needed to write off the car, my deductible was higher than what they alloted for repairs. So I apologize to all the people that got their hopes up for my parts. I will keep them and continue restoriing my car. I am glad to keep my car which is what I wanted to do in the first place, but now I'm out a window, a console and a cd player. I do thank all of you guys for the support if I did need to sell the parts. But my car will be at the point of no return after I put the sport suspension and camber kit on, which should be soon. The body work will commence once finals are done for University. Thanks boys!

After consulting with a trusted journeyman mechanic and bodyman in the family, I've decided to sell all my parts and my car. Would everyone like for me to post on ebay, or do private sales? I will post the car on here as well with all the mods listed. The car is in very good shape. I would like to sell my cylinder head which is fully machined and restored with new injector seals. I honour any bids for the parts.

Prices:
Lowering Springs: 150 USD
Bilstein Sport Shocks: 300 USD
Control arms: 45 USD ea, I have RH and LH coming for >78 cars
Tie Rods: 40 USD for Both, Brand Unknown, but they are new.
Rebuilt Cylinder Head with injectors and new seals: 300 USD
Fuel Distributor with fuel lines: 50 USD

Please email me at derekbutton@shaw.ca with the parts you want and how you are comfortable paying as ebay does cost me money to sell. This will help us communicate more clearly and work out terms.

Thank you all.

Private sales would be much better. Why nail yourself with fees? No idea what the tie rods are, eh? Now you say you have LH, and RH control arms for the newer style? I'll basically take whatever you have that will fit my 81, as long as it is German parts. Let me know, thanks.

The tie rods are in blue and white stripped boxes and look to be very good quality. The control arms I know are German OEM quality. I just bought a LH control arm off of ebay, but I will sell you both if you desire when they come in. I will not in good confidence, sell you a bad part sir.

Alright, sounds good to me. Whatever you send is bound to be better than my original worn out crap that is in the car now! I'm in the middle of a ground up resto, so I need it all. Total for all 4 pieces is $130USD? Package it up as a deal for $125, including Greyhound bus trip to Surrey, BC?

I will have to stand firm on the price of 130 USD for the parts as this is what I paid without shipping and brokerages that I paid originally. Seeing as I want to sell the stuff, I would say 160 CAD to Surrey shipped. I am losing money anyway, so I'm be glad to sell the stuff. I will have to wait until the other control arm comes in though. So email me and I will send you information and request your shipping information for the transaction. I trust you and hope you trust me. You wouldn't be interested in a very good running conditon parts car with new front fenders would you?

I do have an extra set of fuel lines from the fuel distributor to the injectors. I'll sell em if you really want them. I'd say 20 bucks US would cover them plus shipping. I have a spare set of injectors as well that are in good shape if you need them.
