Hey, just wanted to see what the majority of you guys do. I will need to replace my tires this Spring/Summer, and have been looking at tires. I am not sure if I want to get a dedicated summer tire/wheel combo and use the stock M68 rims with winter tires, or go for an all-season tire??

What do you guys do?? I live in NYC, will be moving to the South Jersey/ Philadelphia area this July. Don't know what to do?? Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same area as you.

I started with all-season Continentals on mine. They wore quick, were mediocre in the summer, mediocre in the rain, and mediocre in the snow.

I bought some 16" wheels with Michelin Arctic Alpines mounted on them, and they were amazing in the snow. I was out there in 10" of fresh snow and not having a problem, going past SUVs in the ditch. Now, granted, they're not very good when it warms up, and they're a little slippery in the rain, but they're ok. I purchased a set of Fuzion ZRi summer tires last week from TireRack, they'll go on my 17" wheels. They're greating great reviews regarding treadwear, wet performance, and dry performance, so I'm looking forward to getting those on.

So, I personally love the winter and summer combination, have a set of wheels dedicated for each type. Less comprimising, and not much more expensive in the long run since you spread your miles over more tires.

Solid, thanks for the advice. I think that I'll go separate rims/tires for the seasons; dont want to compromise with performance in the summer.

Good choice. I did the same. I have a set of 16 inch BMW wheels if you need something for mounting snow tires in the future.
