they are the 03 bumpers, correct? 03 OEM 540 sport bumpers? i just got off the phone with the insurance company and they are going to cut me a check for what was estimated but i told them that there's going to be more since the place i went to get estimated missed the passenger side damage from the twist of the bumper. so i found out the 98 and 01 bumpers are the same price so i can only assume the M-tech 03 bumpers are the same since it's the 03 model OEM bumper... that's only an assumption but it's OEM to the 540 right? might go with that then the M5.

I don't think it was standard on every '03 540, I'm pretty sure it required the M-sport package. I say this because you may just be looking up the general 03 540 part number and I think they might differ.

The sport package may have cost more in the 03, which is why i'm saying dont assume they cost the same because they were in the same package. Worst case scenario you pay a little extra and come out with an msport bumper. BUT IMO, the msport bumper doesn't look anywhere near as good as the m5 bumper.

I was under the impression that the M5 and M-Tech bumper were the same with the exception of the T-bar, just like Dan said. I actually confirmed the part numbers, both the M5 bumper and M-tech bumper are # 51 11 7 894 378

The bumper didn't change back in 98 with sport and non-sport, so having the sport package won't get you more money. :)

Correct what I said was, not all '03 540's meaning I don't think 540's without the sports package came with them. Therefore I would imagine they had two different part numbers for '03 540's, one for the sports package and one without the sports package. It was just a caveat for him to consider.

Yes you can remove the bar. M5 bumper conversion costs as follows:(Pricing as per Momentum BMW - Houston)

Fog Lights 99 x 2
Bumper moundling trim 35 X 2
Mentioned above are the majority of the costs involved in doing to conversion, you might have to spend a little bit extra for screws etc

so the 540 M-tech sport bumper = M5 bumper???

Everything is pretty much almost the same with the option for PDC (I think it only involved the bumper trim but not sure), headlight washer which the bumper is a different pn, or just the regular bumper... The T-bar is two parts, The grill and tbar itself. Then there is also the brake ducts that attach to the Tbar which the M5 grill does not have slots for.

all 2003 540i Sports had the M Package with those great looking bumpers. Lucky bastard.

Naah, this ain't gonna be cheaper.........liability issues and all with the school bus. Tree and chain is better cuz you get the satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment of performing this mod yourself :stickoutt .
