ok fellas i need to know if anyone has gotten money out of a city for their crappy road conditions. i was cruising down a road here in san juan capistrano at the posted 40 mph and suddenly i see a crazy hole. so i swerve hard to the left only to find 2 more huge holes. wham. whole car shakes, cd skips etc. as i pull over i get the horrible feeling in my stomach as my car is shaking a lot. i look at my wheel and find the following. (pictures below) I am hoping that i can get some money out of the city for a new wheel due to the fact that there are 3 massive holes that no car would be able to safely go over at anything above 20 mph. and to add to it there were no signs or anything posted about there being some massive potholes. i am especially mad as i just bought these wheels no more than a week and a half ago :mad
lemme know if any of you guys have had similar experiences or any suggestions on the best way to go about this.

Welcome to my world... I lost the count on how many times I bent/cracked my rims because of the damn potholes.

PS: You can get that wheel fixed.

yea i was thinkin i could prolly get it fixed but its still $$ that i had planned for other things...(mods) but looking on the bright side the city might give in and also be stupid and gimme money for the whole wheel and i can jsut fix it.

Visit Pennsylvania. Our roads suck so much because we spend the money on education. (We need the extra dollars there so we can teach the kids how to spell Pennsylvania:rolleyes.) Just kidding about the education thing, but our roads do suck. We have this "circle" that leads to our community Wal-mart and there are no other roads that join up with the circle. It is just a straight road with a small, poorly shaped circle in the middle of it. People constantly hit the stupid thing and bust up wheels and tires because the entry/exit parts of the curb that shape it jutt out into the path that you want to take.

You should really try to get some money from the city to fix your wheel. There was a dollar in one of those canyons (pot holes) that you took a picture of. Go back and find that dollar. It'll be a good start. ;)

According to my lawyer friend I asked her the same thing a few months ago, the local, state, and national government are not responsible for damage to cars caused by poor road conditions, whether weather or maintenance. She says that the gov't is protected and that using the roads is a privelige, not a right, and a risk you assume when you leave your driveway. Good luck with that rim, you won't get a $ out of the gov't.

Oh yeah, born n raised outside of Philly, the roads in PA must be the worst, Florida is a dream compared to PA (except the traffic).

you can get the city to pay for some of the damages. cal-trans is responsible for fixing the potholes in the road here in california. you have to be very persistent (sp?). document everything. take a picture of what street it is on. i don't know if a police report is possible. get estimates on how much the wheel costs to repair/replace. then take all this documentation to either the city or cal-trans.

a person recently got money from either the city of diamond bar/or walnut not too long ago for a bent rim. it is possible. good luck!!!!

Wow those are some huge ass holes

I got fuked as well on a road. 2 rims that i still drive on :( , jus took chuncks out of the rim. I live in diamond bar, some of these holes are ridiculous.

We all pay our taxes. There has to be $$ for these kinds of situations. I say we all stop payin taxes :devillook

A friend of mine who lives in NYC hit such a bad series of potholes at a slow speed, that all 4 tires were popped, and all of the rims were bent. The city did actually pay for those to be replaced.
