Hi all,

I just sold a 318is E30 to my Wife's 16 yr old cousin for his first car. He lives in Pt. Washington (near Seaside and Destin). However, since I am 6 hrs away, I can't help him out with repair work very easily. I need a recommendation for a trustworthy shop in the area who knows a little about BMW's, and which is reasonably affordable. Any recommendations in the area?

Thanks in advance!
Brian Flanagan :help

I have a friend from Crestview. I will ask him if there is anything good around there. I remember hearng some horror stories about his dealership though so I don't know if you wanna take the car there :nono

Hey I'm in Pensacola, about 1 1/2 hours from Destin/Ft Walton. They recently (8 months ago) opened a BMW dealership here, it's really nice, though I don't get any work done at the shop. I know of another place that's great for European cars called Baughn Auto (I'm pretty sure that's how it's spelled). Very knowledgeable, good prices, about the same distance. Hope this helps!

I'm new here so maybe you need to decide whether you trust me or not first but I'll add my experience anyway.

I've only used two shops here in Panama City to do any work to my cars and both of them have been good. I usually do my own work but have used these two in a pinch.

Import Motors on Hwy. 231. My neighbor swears by them for his MBs and so my wife used them while I was deployed. They repaired a neutral safety switch and exhaust manifold on her Volvo. They made some sort or mistake with the NSS and, when it was discovered, they had the car towed back to the shop and fixed it before giving it back. I expect shops to fix their mistakes at no extra charge but not all of them do it willingly. I've also had them do some A/C work on that car.

Hewett Tire and Auto does my tires and they've done minor repairs on the aforementioned Volvo also (motor mounts and kickdown cable).

Both shops were honest in their dealings with me and seem fairly competent.

Hope this helps, take it for what its worth.

I live in Destin and most of the shops will not work on BMW's because of how finicky they are. Hate to say it but the stealer has never let me down.

umm they ripped me off twice. installin an exhaust an coils they didnt do neither one right. the bracket for exhast rattled an suspension is a new story. my shock mounts went bad after 3 weeks of drivin. when i took it back they wouldnt beleive me and i asked to speak to manager/owner they said no. there were being dicks so i was like F this. so NO to them. BUT one thing they did good was alignment.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I've never been there when the owner was not present.
