I dented my beater (yes its all i have, and thats why its a beater). no big deal, just kinda big dent. Once the spring comes around I'm gonna pull it out with the ol' dentmaster, then I need to touch up the scratches. Here's the problem: The paint on the upper part of the dent has...how can I describe this...scalloped. Kind of scally, like a fish or snake. Its a problem and I'm not sure how to get around it. I'll post pics tomorrow when its light outside, cause I'm sure they'll help. Thanks.

IF the paint is cracked, you don't have any choice. You've got to sand it back down to where the paint/sealer isn't cracked and reapply all the layers. I'm guessing because it's on a dent, you're going to have to get down to bare metal to restore it correctly, otherwise it's just going to flake off.
Yeah, you dont want flaking - if moisture gets under there, the fun begins.

upon closer inspection, its not scalloped, just cracked, with some scale shaped chips. i can't get pictures now, cause of the sun, but i'll try again later. i doubt this changes anyting though.
getting a panel redone can be anywhere from 200-300 or so methinks.

thanks...i might take it down to the place the re-did the whole passenger side panel (new (used) door, dent removal on back panel, and painting of the new door) for $650, so I can probably get a better deal.
