one more. I Know it will not flow as much as Jason's and Attila's manifolds being tubular, but this should work ok. Tried to contact ProTurbo but got nothing. evrything id going to get changed: Electronic fuel injection via laptop tuning to ECU, Ford EDIS ignition (distributor less) and Aquamist water injection after intercooler. (better safe than sorry)

nice! what turbo are you going to use? t3?

the log manifolds arn't that bad.....they'll probably last longer than the proturbo headers, and help provide a little more backpressure at lower rpms.

Super 60 wheels are NASTY... it's gonna be fuuuuunnnnnn.

Where do you M10 cats tap for an oil feed? I think I know what Jason is going to use, but I doubt that's common.

I really need to go visit my motor. I haven't been there in weeks. I suck.

Jason, how CR are you going to have with those pistons? From t he looks of it, its going to be inthe mid 9's?? How much boost r u planning on running? I would think you would blow something with high boost cause of the CR?

I think those pistons are in the mid to high 8's...

Nic what I have seen people do before is tap into the oil filter housing and get the supply from there. I can also recall some people using a filter housing from another BMW model that is already tapped.

That housing is from an E30 M3. It has a built in oil cooler.

Only Jbob can say for sure what comp ratio they are. But the profile on those is definately higher than 8:1. The M106 engine I have is 8:1 and the pistons are dished.

Make sure you tap the side that flows filtered oil not the unfiltered side. You do not want to replace your turbo 10K miles later.

Jbob and everyone, the turbos are awesome. :evil2 :buttrock

To bad my m20 2.8 liter was not a turbo.

With all this talk of turbos, manfiolds and specail pistons,
you are making me want to get the Garett 28rs :redspot for my GTI.

believe it or not, those pistons are 8.5:1 (in a 1.8i head w/ 2.0 crank).
when compared them to the stock 320i 'domed' pistons, the lower level of the dome 320i pistons comes to around the same height as the top/plateau of these new pistons.
I'll try & get a comparison pic before the pistons get installed.

///ME21 & I both got ours from proturbo.fi
but Pat just mentioned that he couldn't get in contact w/ them.........if i remember correctly, their english over email wasn't the best.

know what time it is?
picture whore time! :D

While some people like supercharging, the best bang for the buck is turbo.

Cant wait to see JBOB's and Nic's turbos. :lol :alright

I noticed that company also makes turbo manifolds for the e30. I gots to get me one of those m20 manfiolds.

Someday when I got all my stuff paid for, and I am all set finacally I am going to build a Killer 2.8 liter e30 m20 turbo. :D

I will keep my 524td knife edged crank and the rods.

Where do you M10 cats tap for an oil feed? I think I know what Jason is going to use, but I doubt that's common.I recall that Paul tapped the back of the distibutor housing, near the oil pressure switch. I think the oil in the housing is filtered before coming into contact with any other engine component, and is at the full pressure of the system as well.

that is where I am getting mine from. I teed into the original oil pressure sender hole and use one side for the oil pressure gauge and the other for the turbo feed line. I probable will be using a 3/8" line to reduce oil pressure to the turbo. 90 Psi at start up can blow the turbo seals according to Corky Bell. He said 9-15 psi should be enough.

Pat, i'm not sure how well the conventinal bearing t3/t4's handle high oil pressure (i think they can handle it pretty well)
but a lot (if not all) of the ball bearing turbo's usually require an oil restrictor since their oil seals are a lot more prone to blowing because of high oil pressure...like an oil restrictor w/ around a 0.035" hole

[QUOTE=jbob]Pat, i'm not sure how well the conventinal bearing t3/t4's handle high oil pressure (i think they can handle it pretty well)

That is what I thought, but checking E30.net and asking some turbo guys they recommended that I lower the oil pressure to the turbo, that I could blow the oil seals. But I had a turbo Shelby Dodge and the turbo run fin with full oil pressure.... I'll run it the way Attila and Paul have, they haven't had any problems yet. :cool
