View Full Version : 95 Alpine/Black M3-Blown engine
ImPwrdByM 03-25-2005, 02:35 AM Hi,
Car is no longer for sale. I do have a Euro 6-speed trans for sale. 37,000 miles and in excellent working condition. Price is $3,000 which includes the correct driveshaft for the 6-speed. Should be out of the car this week.
My email is WhiteBimmer@Hotmail.com
Regards,
Mike K.
ImPwrdByM 03-25-2005, 02:47 AM I realized that the engine isn't exactly "Blown" as stated just a few bent valves. This engine can be fixed!
Regards,
Mike
How many miles are on the body?
Head work is the most expensive part of the engine so I would say its toast.
I am interested if your willing to work on them numbers.
LAroadster 03-25-2005, 05:39 AM 9k for a car that doesnt run?
e36M3sedanman 03-25-2005, 01:48 PM Interested...but you I agree that the engine could be well deemed toast. Bring the price down.
EpDarks 03-25-2005, 04:13 PM Don't forget that 3k Euro tranny guys.
bmwperson 03-25-2005, 05:24 PM Hey dude, Wanna sell me just the tranny? Im local... and I can just swap mine 70k...
Tom
sorry to be that guy, but its neccesary.
your price is a joke. 9,000 dollars for a car that doesn't run?
bmwperson 03-25-2005, 09:43 PM dets: read the forum rules...
9k is a little high but if someone is looking for a project car perfect... Just new valves... (new p&p head would be 1.3k) and he has a working car.
Tom
TX S3 03-25-2005, 10:58 PM I agreed with these dudes...9K for a car with a blown engine. Even with the cheapest fix, shit, still run you to the bank for a couple of extra grand for the repair bills..So, might as well get a right running vehicle in the begining. Just b/c u put money into mod the vehicle, that does not meant you will ever get it back or compensate for the loss you put into it. :nono
BTW, how many miles are on the car?
ImPwrdByM 03-26-2005, 12:55 AM Hello,
I see where you guys are coming from. Yes, MOST mods do not hold value on resale. All i did was merely state what comes with the car so the buyer is aware. Did I say the price was that high because of the mods(besides the 6-speed)? I think not. Nice try though.
Most of you guys don't seem to be aware of what a euro 6-speed trans with 37,000 miles on it goes for. Try $2500-3000 and if you take that off the price your looking at $6500 for an M3 with a new engine and some bent valves. Which is the same price if not lower than other blown m3s on this board (and most of them need a WHOLE NEW ENGINE). This one just needs a few valves.
There are 3,500 miles on the engine and 120,000 miles on the chassis. All the suspension had 37,000 miles (from the euro M3..which is another reason why I stated the mods). Some of the suspension components are even newer.
Also this sale is not aimed for poeple who are mechanically useless!! Simply put: they can't take a damn head off and change some valves :rolleyes. I hate when poeple who don't know how to fix cars go and talk smack on "for sale" posts like mine because they would have to go pay 1000's to get the work professionally done as they don't know how to do it themsleves. My post and most others like mine are aimed at poeple who can do the job themselves (for the cost of some new valves) and have a nice M3 with some very nice mods for about $9500. When will these poeple realize that these "fixer up" cars are aimed toward the "do-it-yourself" guy and not them??
Also those of you who talked smack about my post. Don't come back on here and say "HEY, I am perfectly capable of doing the fix myself!" If so, why are you guys complaning that you have to go spend thousands to have it fixed?
The only reason Im even THINKING about selling this car is becasue i don't have any room to fix it right now and I'm going away to a different college next year and don't know if I wanna take this car. The 6-speed will probably be up for sale (along with the 3.91 LSD) as I plan on going with a 5 speed again.
Regards to EVERYONE,
Mike K :redspot
PDWebb 03-26-2005, 02:09 AM I'd suggest taking the head off to make sure it is just the valves. If so then people may be a bit more trusting.
andrewmr 03-26-2005, 12:02 PM 9k for a car that doesnt run?
LAroasdster,
Yeah but as he says: "Car is in very decent condition for a 95. It needs a new windshield. Also the hood and left fender are bent out of shape a little. Car also has 4 dents or so on the driver and passenger side. Car has recently acquired a power steering leak. Couple of scratches and paint flaws." :D
I wonder what a car that's in rough condition looks like........ Did the sarcasm come through?
Mike,
Sorry, I'm sure this is uncool but you really need a reality check. You mention the $3,000 gearbox to offset the price. That's ok to do (add to the value) but you can only add the value over and above what the stock five speed is worth.
And you are asking for people to buy into to a car with unknown issues. If it is as simple and inexpensive to fix then just fix it and then sell it.
A stock 95 with 120,000 mile on it is worth somewhere in the 10,000 to 12,000 range so let's say 11,000 (and that's for a car that’s in better than "decent" condition). Spend a couple of thousand on parts and machine work to fix your car and you could have bought a running car for not much more. And not had to spend a couple of nights and weekends working on it to try and get it running. Not to mention the difference in driving the car home instead of having to have it towed home.
Good luck with your sale.
Peace,
Michael
Good thing you don't need to sell. :)
Good luck :)
axcE36M3 03-26-2005, 02:09 PM replaceing valves isn't as easy as just putting some valves in. depending on how badly they are bent, may need new valve seats cut and new valve guides. not something most people can do at home.
also, potential other damage such as a snapped cam, or destroyed piston in case of a dropped valve. possibly a block with scored cylinder walls?
probably best for you to pull the head yourself and post up some pictures of the head and block. that will shed some more light to why a 3500 mile engine just "went". at this point, most interested parties are probably assuming the worst by calculating in the cost of a replacement engine.
ImPwrdByM 03-26-2005, 04:52 PM I am gonna fix the car this week. I am selling the 6-speed gearbox though. Any interested parties please email me.
