I got a 1987 E30 M3 with 45.000 miles on it. I have a few questions, maybe you can help me.

1. Please explain the SI lights, this is my first BMW and I donīt have the owners manual, so no idea how they work.
Right now there is none lit.

2. The Check light comes on some times when iīm running normal, but I press the check button and everytnihg is fine and it goes off.

Thatīs it for now, iīm sure iīll need some more help later on.

Thanks!

In these cars the check light always comes on when you start it after you hit the button, it "checks everything on the si board to make sure it is working.

But the check light is coming on after I've been driving for a while (10 to 15 minutes) and after I press the check button it goes away.

When the check light comes on, are there any lights lit up in the check panel? When you press the check button, do all the lights light up?

When it lights up all the lights are off, and when I press the check button everyone lits up normally, then the check light turns off.

Thats odd. It is like your car is telling you to check the check panel, but the check panel isn't giving you any information.

I'm not really sure what is wrong :dunno Sorry I can't be much of help...

I hope you get it fixed. At least it isn't a very major problem.

No problem!

I'm not going to be around much for a while, as I'm going somewhere for summer vacation, so hopefully there will be some other people around to answer questions.

Have fun with your car, even look into going to some auto-x's or track days with your BMW-CCA chapter (if your not a member, join, and also join the E30 M3 SIG!!)
