Sears Point is a legendary 2.53 mile track in Northern California, and the most in-demand track in the west. Cost is $350 and if we can get a group of 5 drivers we can offer group discounts, (email aaron@speedventures.net for more)
badmonkey 03-24-2005, 07:02 PM short notice!!!
krazik 03-24-2005, 07:04 PM yeah, the track gave SV the day on very short notice.
Its a Sunday so you shouldn't have to call into work right? :)
bmattick 03-27-2005, 02:00 PM Somehow I don't wan to do a track day with a group that can't even keep their internic name

:rolleyes
NASA has an event the weekend after. I just put in a GC kit and some goodies so I plan to be there in group 4. :)
krazik 03-27-2005, 02:26 PM uhm, speedventures.net ;)
You can run with nasa if you like traffic and and less time. :)
bmattick 03-27-2005, 03:14 PM how intuitive... :rolleyes
I'll check it out though as NASA can get crowded, unless it's raining
bmattick 03-27-2005, 03:27 PM "the connection was refused when attempting to contact www.speedventures.net" hmm... is it working for others?
Estoril4dr 03-27-2005, 03:33 PM site isnt working for me either, but I have gone to three events with them in the past and love the way they run things. Havent been with NASA before though
badmonkey 03-27-2005, 04:33 PM Speedventures runs a solid open track event, I'd go with them over NASA any day.

pig4bill 03-28-2005, 05:52 AM Krazik, you going to be running? Are you dragging your usual cronies out?
krazik 03-28-2005, 12:32 PM Yup I'll be there in my s2k, shooting for :45s. Most of the Speedventure regulars will be there. I've been trying to get more of the PDC cronies to come too.
So who here is gonna make it?
bmattick 03-28-2005, 09:18 PM So how do these run? I am very wary of a point-by required to pass policy, one of the things I really like about other groups I run with is I don't need a point-by.
What kind of experience do folks have- will people point-by or is it a cluster? I typically pass on the brakes into 11 and 7 or on the gas out of 11, 1, 3 and exiting the carousel. I would imagine that it takes folks a few turns to figure out I'm not going away before pointing me by...
Estoril4dr 03-28-2005, 09:21 PM I always thought point-bys were for safety reasons. I cant believe the group you run with doesnt require point-bys unless for race class. Seriously, Speedventures is one of the best run groups out there.
bmattick 03-28-2005, 10:03 PM I appreciate the sentiment and am leaning towards going this Sunday. :)
What I'm trying to figure out though before spending 2X what NASA costs is do people actually point-by? I've gotten stuck behind folks in similar events.
Estoril4dr 03-28-2005, 10:07 PM Wow 2x price of NASA? I personally wouldnt go if it was twice the price. Previously I found SV prices to be comparable to all other groups. The times I have gone with them, people have always used the point-bys
bmattick 03-28-2005, 10:17 PM Yeah, for the differnce I can get a new set of front track brake pads (150) and a 1/2 tank of race gas (50)...
Still, as everyone on this forum is so down on NASA and positive about these guys I figure it might be worth it to check it out. Maybe I missing something worth the extra $200 ;)
Estoril4dr 03-28-2005, 10:20 PM Didnt know people were down on NASA. I'v always wanted to give them a try. What bad things have you heard about NASA.
krazik 03-28-2005, 10:22 PM We usualy have 4 groups, Red, Blue, White, Yellow.
Red being advanced and is a pretty fast group: Open passing, point bye encouraged.
Blue being a slighlty less advanced group: Open passing, point bye required.
White Intermediate: Passing between turns w/ point by.
Yellow Beginner: Passing on Designated straights w/ point by only.
The red group will mostly be in the sub 1:50s and we try pretty hard to limit the moving chicanes for the fast guys. I'll be there shooting for 1:45s.
