gota525i 03-23-2005, 02:17 PM Sorry, don't know of a video out there and don't know why you would need it if you say you already know how to do it. Even if there was a video, it would only be like 3 seconds long cause there is nothing to it.
It's simple, just spray and clay. :D
bellavus 03-23-2005, 05:18 PM exactly. All there is to do is to follow David's write up, it's pretty idiot-proof.
cosmom3 03-23-2005, 05:44 PM Ya
I pretty much figured.
Just would like to see some1 do it as a referance.
What kinda spray should I use?
Ive heard of these like quick detailing sprays?
My clay didnt come with any lube or any spray. Also should I wax car emediatly wax after? since it does in fact strip a lay of clear?
gota525i 03-23-2005, 06:47 PM You can use the Mother quick detailing spray, which comes with the Mother's clay bar "package".
Afterwards, for example, you can use polish then wax... :)
EDIT: Doing a Search will yield many results but, even easier, look here, it's 2 posts below yours right now.. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113673

claying is to take the surface contaminants out of your paint, and to eliminate overspray. It also takes off every trace of old wax/polish. Claying, in my opinion, is one of the best things that you can do to protect your paint finish.

Yup,^^
And you will see just how smooth, I mean really smooth (like glass) it will be after you claybar. Not to show off or anything, cough :cool , here is a pic of my car after claybar, polishing and waxing. The car is a 94 and has been waxed maybe 5 times by it's previous owner, when I bought it last month, I decided to claybar it so the pic is after claybar etc.. on an 11 year old car. Not bad. :stickoutt

GHILL 03-24-2005, 03:30 AM I was apprehensive about claying my car, but I finally just dove in and did it. Makes the cars finish as smooth as inside a girls *****. Also while claying it reminded me of caressing a girls *****. Go for it and you will not regret. You dont have to get anal and cut clay bar into pieces. Just pinched off enough to cover upper i/3 of two fingers, used detaling spray with MF tgowels and it came out perfiect. I know that when it talks of abrasive it sounds scary, but it really is simple and worth it.
Uber M3 03-24-2005, 11:19 PM That video is cool... But who in the world clays a car in 15 minutes??? It takes me atleast 2 hours to clay a car.

maybe 15 minutes for a team of four. I can cut it down to an hour with two people.
It took me maybe an hour - be sure to lay down newspaper all around the car - that way you wont have to throw the bar away if you drop it. I had it slip away from me once, and was glad i put paper down!
David 03-25-2005, 11:36 AM I'm with you guys there. It takes me about two hours to clay as well. I don't know how people do it in 15 minutes. They must not be doing a very thorough job.
RagnarDanskjold 03-25-2005, 12:49 PM That's a damn fine tip! Thanks!

Weird. Doesn't take me at all 2 hours to clay. Probably 1 hour or so. Take note that polish also pulls out contamination. I'm still trying to find answers on whether clay takes off wax, even though some Meguiar's Rep said no due to the miniscule size of the embedded dirt. Either way I say you might as well polish to wax or just wax.

Claying will take off some wax and sealant. Side note, I guarantee if you call meguiars again and speak to someone else you will get a totally different answer...

Yup I agree. It was at a Meguiar's Info Session and the answer was somewhat iffy. Either way, who doesn't like adding more wax :D

Extremely easy to use, somewhat idiot proof some might say, and they work well for whatever you need. Just email Adam if you have questions.
1984 JPS 03-27-2005, 02:42 AM Yeah, are the results comparable to Zaino etc???? those tutes are really good btw.

yeah I feel the same way...He's a very good salesman cause he does it subtly. I may invest in his detail kit this summer. Gotta find some money first though.

Probably a different look. However prep is everything.
Glenn 328is 03-29-2005, 12:28 PM Thanks for that video. I have been afraid to try it, but as soon as it warms up I am doing it.
cosmom3 04-02-2005, 04:52 AM Yup...
That video just gave me a boost of confidence.
Really really easy. What i noticed is that after you apply spray and then clay area emediatly wipe, or else it seems that the quick detail spray drys.
Btw my paint was ruff and not very smooth at all. Its smoother than a babys ass.Now I just wanna see a video of polishing.
Check out my site in my sig, you'll see that in that gravel pit area (pic) it looks sooo nice and feels as nice as it looks!
