So i went to the shop that's going to do my 5 after the school bus accident. they are the outside body shop for Park Ave. BMW. They guy tells me about the new 3 series and how it's all going to be 4 drs. no 2 doors. the new M3 will actually be M4's. The 4 series is going to be the 6 series of the 5 series where the 5 is the 4 door and the 6 is going to be the 2 door.
the E90 is going to go on sale soon but the M3 is going to be around until end of 06 where the M4 is going to be debuted.
This could be a reposted info but then again, it could be new news or could be just rumors. anyone wants to comment?

nah.. this guy is pretty straight. he works very very closely with dealers and the manufacture of things (like paint companies) in Germany. I wouldn't discount what he says but i guess it's all a matter of time.

The 3 series is staying the "3" series. This rumor surfaced about a year ago, and it is just that...a rumor. The M3, whether it be a coupe or sedan, will be called an "M3". No such thing as a 4 series.

What I have read is that BMW at one point put out the idea of doing that. Changing it so that the odds were 4 doors, and that the evens would be 2, but they decided against it. One reason being that they didn't want to drop the well established name: M3. They were afraid that people wouldn't know what an M4 was. I think I saw that in "Car" (an english car mag)

Not in this case, there is a 1,3,5,6,7, but No 2 or 4.
honestly they should've scrapped the 1 being a hatch and made it a true small sedan because the three is getting quite big now...
