Recommendations would be nice. TIA. TWKTCC 03-22-2005, 07:04 PM Just put the first one we got in a customers car yesterday, same thing as the N-1 just cosmetic differences and you now have to set the pk brake/ release/ set again to see the video. This is to make it a lil harder to bypass I guess :rolleyes ...... not really :D It is a very nice piece, works very well. We did alot of the N-1's last year. Id highly recommend it. speedster 03-22-2005, 08:35 PM im thinking of picking up the n1 now since the n2 came out, im just not pleased with me dvd6500 to boring NHenson1 03-23-2005, 01:38 AM i heard it's not possible to bypass the avic n-2. is this true?? TWKTCC 03-23-2005, 12:48 PM i heard it's not possible to bypass the avic n-2. is this true??I did it just the other day. No big deal really. Just not "legal". :nono NHenson1 03-23-2005, 12:53 PM what'd you do?? i know you can't ground it to make it work. is it like an alpine?? TWKTCC 03-23-2005, 01:51 PM what'd you do?? i know you can't ground it to make it work. is it like an alpine??I posted the difference above. It needs to see Gnd/nothing/Gnd. Like setting the Ebrake, releasing, setting again. A simple toggle will suffice :redspot , but not recommended. :nono NHenson1 03-23-2005, 04:25 PM i knew it had to be able to be bypassed, or else nobody would buy it. but, pioneer does have to cover its own ass, too, to prevent lawsuits. i guess that's why they made it so much harder. TWKTCC 03-23-2005, 05:12 PM I need to add a few steps.... 1. toggle switch +12 to the purple/wht reverse signal wire 2. video output into rear cam input with rca 3. toggle switch ground to ebrake wire (lt. grn) (on/ off/ on) This is the complete bypass I did today. The toggle didnt work once the vehicle was in motion. It tricks the unit to thinking it is in backup mode and feeds the video output (normally used for headrests) thru the backup camera input. This unit has a gyro in it so it knows when the vehicle is in motion and the toggle alone on the ebrake doesnt work. Learning by doing. Pioneer got sneaky this year....... CrayzeeM3 03-23-2005, 11:17 PM Did you install the TV tuner also? How is the reception? How is the reception while moving is what im interested in. NHenson1 03-24-2005, 02:09 AM man that bypass is CRAZY. nice job bypassing it though. two thumbs up. TWKTCC 03-24-2005, 08:47 AM Did you install the TV tuner also? How is the reception? How is the reception while moving is what im interested in.Not on this particular unit. TV tuners generally work about as well as your reception at home without cable/sat/etc. Put on yer old rabbit ears and see what ya get. Generally once the vehicle is in motion you will get variances but it pretty much stays the same as long as your in reception range of the station. I personally think t.v. is a waste of time. The Sat. units will soon be small enough to be feasible. man that bypass is CRAZY. nice job bypassing it though. two thumbs up. No problem. CrayzeeM3 03-24-2005, 07:56 PM good to hear... Personally i love watching TV, its free, its different, and sometimes i like see what new products are being released on commercials. Maybe its just me i dunno. But TV is the only place you can get Friends, Simpsons, King of Queens etc.,. with out carrying a bunch of DVDs in your car. The Sat. units will soon be small enough to be feasible. And what is this about Sat? TWKTCC 03-24-2005, 08:50 PM And what is this about Sat?There is already satellite tv available for cars, although I should say SUV's. The mini dishes are enclosed in a unit the size of a thin suitcase and it mounts to the roof racks. Price is unreasonable and unit is too big. But as with most electronics, it will be smaller and cheaper soon enough. JuBu 03-24-2005, 08:55 PM Have any of you had experience with the REAL-TIME traffic info display on the navi maps with the AVIC-N2? I heard that this was one of the major improvements. I think it's traffic info is fed via SAT/SIRIUS radio subscription. Does it work well? CrayzeeM3 03-24-2005, 09:05 PM I dont want to subscribe to xm. Thats the only reason im hesitant to do this versus a CarPuter, i was gonna place the screen exactly where Jubu placed his. I think it's traffic info is fed via SAT/SIRIUS radio subscription. Does it work well? Not as of yet. This was the first N-2 installed since its release. This customer didnt want the XM.... Im sure I will soon enough. JuBu 03-24-2005, 09:52 PM Not as of yet. This was the first N-2 installed since its release. This customer didnt want the XM.... TWKTCC 03-24-2005, 09:58 PM Ok cool...please let us know when you see one installed as I'm wondering if it works well or not...Will do. :D Estoril4dr 03-24-2005, 10:53 PM Had TV tuner in my previous car; it is not nearly as clear as my home tv. If anything, get the sony stick on antenna... I heard everything else is just crap. jdromeo215 08-02-2006, 03:05 AM installed, does it look clean and fresh? can you post some pics? What was the cost on the install, and where there any mods that had to be done to ensure proper fitment? attack eagle 08-02-2006, 02:42 PM NO it looks tight and pimp. You do realize this thread is well over a year old, right? |
