Nic you have no say in this :nono

Beige interior? Not with blue belts! Maybe red, err, it's hard to match harnesses with beige. Maybe I am looking at an old pic. I see that your seats are black, I think red would look better imho.

if you're getting harnesses for bling, go with those. if you care about yourself, get schroth. call HMS, they're the NA distributor and very helpful.

Obviously I would go with the 3-point black bolt in harness. Not going for bling Corbeau belts are more than enough for safety over what I have now. These are not built for bling. My belts as of now are shreading into basically nothing. I get 50% off Corbeau purchases so I will get these if any.
Yes I care very much about my life...

I have got some Schroths and I love them, only my dimensions are a bit odd for the lap belt even though I've only got a 34 waistband!

You have a roll bar? If not, please re-think harnesses. In the event of a rollover, you need to be a bit flexible. If you are firmly strapped into your seat, that will not be the case. It's a great way to wind up with compression fractures on your spine. Not OK. I'm certain that you can buy brand new seat belts for an E21 from BMW still. Probably not too much money either.

At least he's not going to be running anti-submarine belts. Running a roll bar or cage with harnesses really is optimal though.

...but back on topic. Ive looked at Corbeau harnesses before, they seem very cheaply made compared to my Schroths IMHO. Im sure they'll do their job however, but still. Whatever you do dont get blue ones.

I am not questioning what you are saying, but I am questioning how a roll bar would help a compression fracture of the spine in a roll over. I understand that a roll bar will keep the roof from collapsing, but how would this make a difference from a normal seat belt? This is absolutely not the first time that I have heard this either.

Yeah how would this differ from being strapped to the roll bar vs. strapped to the exsisting back seatbelt bolt locations? The only difference I can see is that the termination angle of the belt would differ from rollbar to rear seat location.

I understand these belts arn't as well made as Schroths or some others but I am sure they are made equal if not better to the factory belts.
When I can get 2 for about $60 and 1 for about $30 it makes it seem logical. I am also sure that I can get 2 new belts from the stealer but the price for that seems like it would out weigh other options.

I dunno; but keep the input coming, if I really wanted them I would have gotten them by now, but I'm just not 100% I want harnesses in my car.

Just a question.
Why are you perfering a 3 point over a 4 point harness?

No Input on this. CJ and I already had a talk, although it seems that I need to talk with him again :confused

BUT, factory seat belts are NOT cheap. Anything safety that has to be DOT approved is VERY exspencive. Compare steal braded brake lines that are DOT to ones that are non-DOT approved. DOT lines cost 50 to 60 bucks more. Getting this certification is exspencive. Another example is the non DOT wilwood brakes when compared to DOT Brembos. Factory belts for a set of two would be in the 200 dollar region I'm sure... maybe more. James can you confirm? (BTW your whip still gives me wood when I see it in your sig)

I guess "inexpensive" means different things to different people. I bought factory new belts for my 02, and they were abotu $115/side. To me, that was next to free. Not because I'm a rich guy, but because it is my safety we're talking about here. Factory fresh seatbelts are a steal for that kind of money. I've never priced out E21 belts, but if they are anywhere near that price, I'll be all over them for the 323i.

The issue with no rollbar in a car with harnesses is roof collapse. If it caves in on someone in a stock seat belt, they have the ability to be pushed to the side, away from the collapsing roof. In a harness, you're stuck bolt upright in your seat. The only thing that will move to the side is your head. Move it too far to the side, and think what happens.

This is turning out to be quite the dilemma. At the moment money is really tight for me, just put the car in the shop to have the repairs made from the sink-hole tragedy, just finished paying for school for the spring quarter (thanks to the govenator for the 15% markup), have to pay for books in about 1 week, and my cell phone is taking a shit, not to mention Mammoth in 2 weeks :buttrock .

I guess I'll check the yards first, then try and get a hold of a new set of factory belts, it’s not that big of a deal really...

Al, I can see what you mean about the rollbar vs. no rollbar, never thought about it like that.

CJ why don't you ask Matt if you can get the seat belts from the car he is parting out and later on buy the harness. Cool thing you got the sponsorship......that way you can use the stock seat belts for everyday driving (i don't know Cali, but in NY some cops frown upon harnesses) and the harness for spirited driving/ shows.

This was going to be the answer i was going to give. Except the belts in the gold car are already spoken for by a local here.

Go with black harnesses, keep them bolted in, but hook em up for shows, and fun time. I'm sure you can find a set of stock belts for cheap somewhere.

I had a corbeau harness in my car for a few months. Not a bad harness, but def. a PITA for daily driving. It sucks not being able to reach your glovebox when you're strapped in. :evil2
