Well i have the altenator(if thats not spelled right, eh) whine. I know of two possible reasons the grounding is not good, or the rca's would be near the power from the altenator to the battery, but ive tried 5 different spots for grounding, even the same spot as the battery is grounded too and i still get the whine. The rca's are run on the drivers side and the power is on the pass. so what else?

Where do you guys put your ground wire? Ive tried, underneath the plasic trim of the trunk where there is a 13mm bolt that i took off sanded around and used a 8gauge 24k connecter to hook up to it. I also know 4gauge is better but the amp only accepts up to 8 gauge, its just a small alpine amp. Ive tried where the battery is grounded to, ive tried to make a hole with a self tapping screw which i need to clearcoat so it doesnt rust.

What else could it be? Could my amp be bad? Its not new, i just decided to switch it from running my one 10w3 to running regular speakers and it showed up, im figuring the sub just didnt produce the whining loud enough to be heard and it has always been there. Could there be something with the setting on the amp, if so i'll get the settings i have and post them up.

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the long post.

eliminate things....
1)hu - hook a portable cd player up to rca's and see if u get the whine still
2)rcas - try running rca's outside of car to amp
3)amp - try diff amp if possible

double check ur alt, amp, and batt grounds again.

Yea, of course it was after i took apart the trunk, and tapped a new hole in the sheet metal. But now i need to clearcoat the hole so it doesnt rust, but atleast i did find it. Eh whatever.
