Mblaster 03-21-2005, 11:36 AM How many runs did you guys get?
S.Lang 03-21-2005, 12:54 PM That was a good day. Just a little bit of dampness, enough to make it fun. I got a call late Friday to see if I wanted to instruct so I headed down. Took the 325is on Yoko streets since there was a chance of rain. Did a bunch of runs for students, then got a lot of runs in my car with passengers. I think my best was a 68.3.
Another friend who was there had his silver E30 325is with the Ireland suspnsion setup in it, also on the same Yoko ES100's. I got in and was amazed at the difference. The car was like a go-kart. It was so easy to slide around I had a grin on my face the whole time (not the fastest but DEFINITELY the most fun)! I think my best in it was about a 67.4. I'm gonna have to put that setup on my car now!

That was me doing the OWNING! I actually thought about a Pass on the little straight before the right hander into the finish! But figured that would be really uncool!
I was running right about 66.000 all day, with a couple 65.9s, and 66.1's, in my lowly little 325is. No it doesn't have an E46 motor as I heard Rumor of people thinking. Just an old Non-Vanos 2.5L

Sorry for holding you up :)

Dude. I was looking for you to say hi. I saw that car, thought maybe it was yours, but then thought "nah, it has M44s, it can't be Yeti!"
I also didn't know there was an E9 there. Hotness. I missed that one.
S.Lang 03-21-2005, 02:54 PM LOL...that's me riding shotgun in the E9. He was so excited about autocrossing it, he just grabbed the course by it's neck and went for it. We spun, then he went at both slaloms from the wrong direction even though I'd shown him how to do it.....just too much excitement. The next lap I had him slow WAAAAY down, and we got through well. I then let him loose the third lap and he did a really nice job.
He was just sooo stoked to be driving the crap out of the old thing. It was cool to see.

Damn, wish I knew you were there Lauren I would have liked to have met you in person. Were you racing? I actually just got the 44s Friday as a set of race wheels with R compound Kumhos on them. They stick like glue. Too bad I'm still so slow! :D I'm almost out of excuses. :(
Are you going to come down for the May autocross?
SilverBeam 03-21-2005, 02:58 PM When is the May autox? No, I wasn't racing. I'm back down to one set of wheels with contisportcontacts, which aren't exactly autox worthy. Plus, the caravan down to SD for the autocross didn't arive until 3 Am. I showed up around 3, didn't catch much of the action.

It's on May 21 in the east lot. If you're going to come down PM me ahead of time to look out for you.

S.Lang 03-21-2005, 03:32 PM yeah...but it wasn't my E30 :embarrasm
Those damn things fall off when the wind blows!
We got it back, though...all the mounting points looked good!
Man that car was fun. Much more fun than this desk I'm sitting at.

If I recall correctly you were running 67-68 in that guy's E30, weren't you? That was extremely impressive. A few of us E30 owners were convinced that was on R-comps. We were rather embarrassed when we discovered those times were run on 225/50 ES100's.
I couldn't get my times down on Saturday if my life depended upon it. It didn't seem to matter what I tried to do. My tail end seemed to be all over the place.
S.Lang 03-21-2005, 04:19 PM I think I could have gotten down into the 65's if we'd brought R-comps. We were convinced it was going to rain though, so we didn't bother.

Did you try lowering rear tire pressures? If you have an adjustable rear sway bar, did you soften it? If not adjustable, maybe you could just disconnect it. It was pretty low-grip out there Saturday, so the softer, the better.
325racer 03-21-2005, 05:55 PM I showed up around 3, didn't catch much of the action.
Lauren,
You were there and didn't come say hi?? I'm dissapointed! You shoulda come over, I would have given you a ride while you were there too. I think everyone that got in my car over the course of the day, had a Blast, whether they were in the drivers seat or passenger seat.

Were the ES100's mounted on 15x7 or 15x8 Kosei's?

I tried lowering the rear pressures until it appeared as though I was over-scrubing (when I say "appeared", be aware that I'm still a neophyte :embarrasm ), but it didn't seem to help much. There are two other things that might be working against me. You mentioned sways...I do have an adjustable rear bar that is set at full soft. It's a massive IE bar that is probably a lot more bar than I need from the spring rates I'm running. The second problem is tires. I'm desperately trying to use up the tires I have, which are a 205/45/16 ES100. They are the tires I was running before my motor swap and now seem to be a bit over-powered. Okay, maybe there is a third problem...THE DRIVER. :D
Ben Carufel 03-21-2005, 08:22 PM Jason, out of curiosity, what wheels are you running?
Jason, out of curiosity, what wheels are you running?
I think they're OZ superleggeras, but I may be wrong...
YetiX 03-21-2005, 08:56 PM When's Shinobi going to put up the rest of the pictures? I want to see if he got any pictures of me sliding through the cones at him! :D
JasonH 03-21-2005, 09:17 PM I think they're OZ superleggeras, but I may be wrong...
Yup...Kim's correct. They are Superleggeras.
Ben Carufel 03-21-2005, 09:32 PM Cool, thanks for the info. :)
uberpanzer 03-22-2005, 05:34 AM I would say that soft suspension was a blessing out there with the amount of traction that we had....but I might be a bit biased. :D
Anyway, congrats to everyone that made it out and had a blast. This time out REALLY made me realize though how f**ked my clutch is. Anyone wanna help with a clutch job before the next event? :stickoutt
SStan 03-22-2005, 05:48 AM .....I showed up around 3, didn't catch much of the action.
A certain blonde in a silver Bimmer was seen blocking the entrance/exit gate around that time, wouldn't happen to be you? :nono :D

Was your friend Andy from Bullet by chance? Cause I know he owns a car with that set up. I'm definately gonna make it down to the next one.

Yes, the car was built by Andy, but was recently bought from him by another friend. The car is sick.
Synthetic Darkness 03-23-2005, 03:29 AM I'll have to make it down there next time and drag Chadwick along
