Just tuned into speedchannel, and guess what...no Monaco Grand Prix. Apparently speedchannel is going to replay it next sunday night. Did they announce to anyone why they are not broadcasting the race live?
What's next... the 24 hours of lemans will be broadcast in one hour sections over the next 3 months?
Those bastards. I'm really not liking Fox.

In addition, SPEED Channel does not have the rights to air the Monaco F1 race live. We will still air LIVE practice and qualifying but the race will ONLY be shown on SPEED Channel a week later, Sunday June 2.
Does this make any damn sense? No one else has rights to broadcast it, yet they can't air it live??? WTF??:complain :complain
Once again, here's to you Fox: :boid:
Max///M3 05-26-2002, 10:01 AM We can all thank those NASCAR crazed or should I say rating hungry FOX execs
BTW here are the top 3

JasonJ75 05-26-2002, 10:25 AM Please tell me you just didn't give me the results....
Man...I need to learn...Stay the hell away from bf.com until I watch the race...
Its on ABC immediately following the Indy 500 (At least in VA)

COME ON!! NEVER post race results on an email digest or message board unless you post under its own topic and put an appropriate warning in the subject. SOME of us would actually like to see the race without knowing the results.
Max///M3 05-26-2002, 11:04 AM Hey read my title, New Member :dunno
Kyle K. 05-26-2002, 11:08 AM BAH!! why did I just read that??
Anyway, the race is on ABC after *gasp* 4 mind dulling hours around Indy. I think its coming on at 330 this afternoon (eastern time) WHY WHY WHY?!?!?! Why the hell didn't Speed just SHOW THE DAMN RACE?? grrr

Don't worry. That's not even close to the real top 3. Cut the guy some slack. You guys should know better then to get upset when someone says that the top 3 consists of a Toyota, Minardi, and Arrows.
Just watch the race on ABC after the Indy 500. As open wheel racing fans, we should be happy to see F1 getting network coverage.

LoL i was just gonna say thats wrong...
ahha
Kyle K. 05-26-2002, 12:18 PM uhh... the order he first posted did not have toyota minardi and arrows... they were three teams with much more weight, and i'm guessin it was the correct results

Yeah, the first results were quite a bit different than the one's BML is refering to.
Max - No real harm done, and you are a new member. It's not like its a board rule or anything, its just kinda common courtesy not to spoil it for the rest of us who haven't seen the race yet. There always seems to be someone who makes this mistake once, but I guarantee you they only make it once. :)
Max///M3 05-26-2002, 05:10 PM Well, it was interesting for a while anyways
Bobby ///M3 05-27-2002, 02:19 AM ABC has the rights to air the Monaco race this weekend. They're using the BernieVision feed rather than the local feeds. It was different. I liked the in car view with the tach. The downside to ABC airing it was the pre and post race coverage. Lots of bs storylines in the prerace and then, *boom* the race starts. WTF??? Where was the warmup lap? I thought they were showing last years start.
The post race was cut rather short and the interviews as well. I did like Ralf's comment (and for the guys that haven't seen it yet, I'll keep my mouth shut)

kaiservon 05-27-2002, 02:48 AM I just glad ABC had somewhat knowledgeable and experienced announcers this time. Last years Indy coverage was truly despicable and embarassing. Jason Preistley was too dumbfounded to speak clearly and the best the others could muster up was "err...that black car". Anyway, ABC is supposed to be covering the Canadian Grand Prix too. But Speed will still do their usual version afterwards.
TiAg ///M3/4 05-27-2002, 01:17 PM Yeah, Ralf's comment was pretty funny. :D
Actually, I really liked the ABC coverage, or, rather, the feed they had piped in. BernieVision was tres tres cool, it was great to have the tach, especially when things were interesting for Coulthard! I have to say that this was the most enjoyable race to watch so far this year, though I would have picked a different finish. Those of you who haven't watched it yet, it's a pretty exciting one even if you know the finish, so enjoy!
Danny Sullivan was probably not the best on-screen presence one could imagine, but nothing's perfect ... least of all the crappy pre-race coverage. And hey, think Red Bull was sponsoring anything? The bit with the windsurfing guy was just plain retarded.

Don't complain about Red Bull, they are doing TONS for the sport, especially here in the U.S. They are in the process of starting to sponsor driver's here in the U.S. who have Formula One potential in order to allow some U.S. drivers a chance at the toughest seat in Motorsports. If they want to help me out with a ride in a Formula Renault, I'll gladly watch all the Red Bull advertisements they want to throw at me. :)
TiAg ///M3/4 05-27-2002, 06:16 PM Actually, I'm writing Red Bull just to thank them for all the sponsorship they've been giving to many levels of motorsport. I got very excited simply at their 30-second message spot about looking for American F1 drivers. So, Red Bull, thank you for that.
However, in terms of numbers of impressions (man, that was a lot) ... OK, they're ponying up tons of cash, let them get some payback, cool ... but the "let's show this guy walking around the paddock while wearing our gear and holding our drink for ten minutes, then kind of get into a jetski race" bit for all that time was frankly pretty lame. If they want product placement, fine; I'm just asking that the powers that be not completely waste our time on top of the commercials.
Maybe I was just twitchy after watching the interview with Castroneves where people kept changing his hat for different sponsors every minute or so. :)

Wonderful NASCAR style marketing. Drives people nutty, but still effective enough considering you and everyone else notices that tactic. Although how many people actually remember all of them. Many fans are too drunk by the end of the race to even focus in the logo anyway.
Lone Star M3 05-29-2002, 05:49 PM I saw the Red Bull American F1 Driver Search. They should be plenty of qualified American Drivers out there to fill this slot. I guess the last World Champion American Driver was Mario Andretti Driving for Lotus in the John Player Special back in 1977.

I remember that car as a kid ( I was 11 years old when I watched the Monaco GP on TV for the first time with my dad).
Surely an American Driver can capture that crown again.
I am tired of the European Drivers having all the fun.
Speaking of European Drivers, Ralph Schumacher ticked me off anyway with his fear of racing in the American GP @ Indy last year because of the risk to him of becoming a victim of terrorism.
Like runnning over 200mph isn't a risk already!
Damn Pansy!
To me, his brother Michael sounding like an elitists in his 60 minutes interview, talking down about and insulting the all American racing institutions (like NASCAR, CART and IRL). Something along the lines of drivers that can't make it in Formula 1 drive in these series.
Let's send an American driver over there to show them we can race with the best of them.
Come on young single guys, I am too old, fat and married to fit into an FW22 Williams!
Same goes for The 24 Hours of Lemans.
Since BMW is not in it. GO PANOZ!

Kyle K. 05-31-2002, 10:24 AM All I care about in the ALMS is that Porsche doesn't win the GT class... but they're gonna win so I guess I'm kinda over it. I'm rootin for the C5-R in GTS... that car is great! Gotta go for panoz also though
