View Full Version : Should I paint the center of my rims black?
GriMpY 03-18-2005, 03:35 AM Did a few PS of my Maya's with black center... What do you guys think? Since I curbed the rim, I need to get it repaired, might as well get everything redone.
Also what is the advantages and disadvantages against powder coat and paint?
Need to get another set of wheels before I can get these wheels redone.

heezyo2o 03-18-2005, 07:37 AM glossy black and chrome the lips
PENER 03-18-2005, 09:17 AM go for the black. just don't forget to do the center caps too.
the dish should reflect black as well...
powder coat it, it looks better.
unesential 03-18-2005, 10:26 AM Powder cat will Adhere much better. Go for black.
shragon 03-18-2005, 12:53 PM looks good in black, but they look really good as they are.

EDIT: I'm not sure, something doesn't appeal to me regarding the black rims. Maybe it's the heavy contrast to the silver, I'm not sure.
Can you post the original non-PS pictures, too?
romeox929 03-18-2005, 02:54 PM i'd leave it as is because of the original color already being sexy. Not only that, your car is silver and the black rims would, in my opinion, heavily contrast it taking the attention away from the rest of the car. If you leave it silver or that athracite (?) it'd flow better with the car.
alkech 03-18-2005, 04:09 PM I love the contrast of black wheels against a light color car, specially white. My 75 2002 is beige with Hartage rims I had powder coated black. :cool
Get R' done man.
GriMpY 03-18-2005, 04:26 PM thanks for the input guys. Here is a pic of the original graphite color.
Dwayne 03-18-2005, 04:36 PM I'm voting for the original graphite color after the original picture. I love to see the spokes, and you can't see them well in black. The graphite just blends much better with the car, they really don't look out of place.
SC David 03-18-2005, 06:33 PM Yeah, I would stick with the original color as well.
MJW7800 03-18-2005, 09:11 PM Heres my room-mates car...They are Maya's also...

At first I was gonna say go black, but after seeing the original pics.. keep them the way they are. Seeing the spokes is what makes the wheels sweet..
If you really do want to change it up.. I'd go with the Anthracite... not too much of a contrast.. but enuff to get your attention.
FIVE4SHO 03-18-2005, 09:49 PM I would leave them just like the way they were.. The center left in silver... i.e.:

Just to give you an idea of how they would look all black:

Agreed, the spokes is what makes the wheel sweet, I still see them. Plus it adds a uniqueness/rawness, which is a notability in it of itself.
tjn182 03-18-2005, 10:44 PM Go for powdercoating -- it has a more permenant and prettier look. My buddy got the center's on his rims powdercoated for about $140 or so.
5er Sport 03-18-2005, 10:52 PM Your :round looks sweet with them either way!
m3mark 03-18-2005, 11:11 PM Powdercoated Black with a Polished Lip :buttrock
