I have clear coat peeling off my driver's side door (and only that body panel), and it's really bothering me. I also park in a parking lot (military barracks) where people are extremely careless and hardly ever stop to leave a note if they scratch your car (even if it was unintentional). Most, if not all of the scratches, look as if they can be fixed by wet sand and reapplication of clear coat. Does this apply for the spots (biggest about the size of a half-dollar) where it's peeling?
Anyway, my real question here is where can I go in the San Diego area to get a good price while still expecting quality work? How much should I expect to pay?

Have you tried 3M Rubbing Compounds? Get an orbital polisher/buffer from Sears for about $30 and work this stuff to remove the scratches. Here's the link:
3M Rubbing Compounds (http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/auto_marine_aero/automotive_aftermarket/node_GSTXYZM7W0be/root_GST1T4S9TCgv/vroot_GSLPLPKL4Xge/gvel_GSRKGRPJV4gl/theme_us_aad_3_0/command_AbcPageHandler/output_html)
My mobile ding repair guy used this stuff on my car and removed a lot of scratches. My car looked brand new after polishing.

rubbing compound will only work if you cant feel the scratch when you run your fingernail across it.
If your clearcoat is peeling, though - The proper way to fix it is by sanding down to metal, reprimer, repaint, re-clear because its impossible to tell if its a primer or paint issue. Applying more clear will likely give you the same problem again down the road.
Of course, when you do a job like that, it has to be blended into adjacent panels and ... blah.... it starts to get expensive.

Yeah that's a job I can't really do myself, so I was wondering if anyone knew a good place in the SD area.
So, you're basically saying the areas where only the clearcoat is gone, it has to go back down to bare metal? That sucks ass because it will be damned expensive...
