so, my 86 535i makes a *thud noise from the rear when i shift quickly, i replaced the rear diff mount last night with a new one from a 635csi, the old one was TOAST. the rubber center was comply detached from the metal mount frame. it crumbled when i took it off. :cool

im still geting that thump noise from the rear when shifting quickly.... i have subframe mounts, but im procrastinating changing those because of the horror storys iv read of people changeing those.

on the plus side, theres less vibration on aceleration, i think the pinion is lined up corectly now with the new mount so im geting less driveline vibration. :)

do you guys think the subframe mounts should solve the *thud* noise?

dogbones?

and have you called racing king yet to do their subrfame reinforcement kit ($15 cheat for prolonging subframe-mount replacement)

dogbones are junk, but i was told there not tat big of a deal..... ill replace those soon too. shock mounts seem good, but im shure they could use replacement too. who knows if they have ever been replaced.

and whats in the subframe strengthinging kit? can you gimme a link, or more info? :)

mine does that occasionaly when I shift to reverse or first gear. This rarely happens, but I'm still wondering what is causing this

My 90 535i (E34) makes a *thud noise from the rear when I am driving and it is shifting - it's automatic. Also when I reverse it starts off fine but then the starts to kind of "shudder" likes it's gonna turn off...

last year I had the transmission mounts changed and centre bearing was replaced....

Could it be my transmission?? :help

Thx

Its your subframe - it happened in my E36 after years of driving they crack loose from the body and thuds when changing gears - no way around it - I had mine welded in by a shop - costed me $500 problem solved
