Clutch slave cylinder is up by the tranny.

Something would have had to leak I would think to just lose pressure in the lines. You can try bleeding it.

Had any brake work recently? How's the brake fliud level?

the clutch and the brake fluid are the same, i had the same problem, the reason it sticks to the floor is cause there is a spring to make the pedal softer, and when your slave goes out, like mine did, there is quite a lack of presure. my clutch switch is broke, so I just started it in first gear than shifted with out the clutch, very carefully, up to the dealer, I should have done it myself, but i was busy that week, took them all of 4 hours total.

ok ya, well as for brake problems, I had low brake fluid level warning from my obc, so i stopped by autozone picked up a Valvoline dot 3 and 4 brake fluid topped it off, and evrything was fine.. then 2 days later this happend.. So the Slave cylinder is up by the tranny ?? anyone have a pic of exactly where it is, and how difficult is it to change out ? How can i tell if the slave cylinder is working or not ? any way to check for leakage ??

its on the driver side of the tranny, get under the car and check it out. You should use something better than valvoline brake fluid. Changing the slave cylinder is a pretty simple job just takes patience and its in a tight area.

its easy as long as when the clutch slave blew it didn't barf all it's internal parts into the bellhousing.

low brake fluid warning should have sounded a bigger alarm in your brain than just fill it up. it is a closed system. if the fluid is low, it went somewhere it wasn't supposed to. if it went somewhere, there is something broken. in this case, looks like it was only the clutch slave as opposed to a real brake system problem. hopefully this will be an easy fix for ya.

:lol :lol HAHAHA :help where did you get that from , do you even have a clue about BMWs .
Its a Hydro system.
Maybe its the flux capacitor in the back. :lol
Oh wait maybe the spring in it is bad .
Just teasing , I just think you shouldnt give advise if you dont have a clue about something.

To answer your question (correctly ) first check the brake fluid .
Take the cap and the screen off and look inside .
If its low , check your clutch slave which is under the car by the driver side on the left of the trans . If its leaking you would see a little oil under the slave , then also check the center between the trans housing , and the rear of the enigne for a excessive oil .
If all that is fine , take the cover off under the steering wheel and see if there is oil on the carpet near the clutch pedal , because thats where your clutch master is , that is another item that could be bad and cause your problem . I hope I helped . Take care . Oh ya let me know what happened .

ok thanks.. as for the clutch master cylinder.. dont think that is a problem, because everything is dry.. under there :) ....umm.. i am thinking I have air in the system.. because i am pretty positive i have replaced the slave cylinder when i replaced the clutch.. which was 5 months ago.. umm.. but i will still check the slave cylinder and double check, (err.. but gotta wait till rain is over.. ahha).. anyhow, when the brake fluid was low, i was topping it off, and i used the whole bottle, so i am guessing that it was so low that got air in the system ?? anyhow, when bleeding the clutch only bleeder screw i have to bleed from is the one on the slave cylinder correct ? thanks again for the help..

See that wouldnt be the reason , because if you bleed the slave once and it has pressure on it , after that everytime you press the clutch it bleeds it automatically , good luck.

it is a closed system. if the fluid is low, it went somewhere it wasn't supposed to.

It's normal for the fluid level to drop as the brake pads wear.

ok.. fellas good news!! i have clutch action now!! woop woop!! thanks again for all the help fellas, looks like i'll be attending bimmerfest afterall !! :buttrock :buttrock :alright :alright ...

I stopped by autozone picked up one of those one person bleeder .. and it actually worked!! ahha.. bleed the slave cylinder with it, kept filling the resevoir everytime i needed to.. then closed the valve, went inside pumped the clutch a few 20 times until i had pressure, and now it all works.. hmm.. i think it is time to change the pads on the brakes, i am guessing thats why my brake fluid went low.. well thanks again fellas..

Damn!! You sed the whole bottle just to top it off?! I just replaced both the master and slave cylinders and then bled the system. I used only half a bottle to bleed my whole clutch system that was empty. Mabey my bottle was a lot bigger than yours?
