Just moved to NY from CA and the rates I have been quoted are exorbitant. What are some prevailing rates for comprehensive insurance on a 4-dr m3 1997 sedan? Also can anyone recommend an agent in the long island area?
Thanks,
Talha.

thats a tough one. You have to just call up places and get quotes.
I have a 1998 528 and I pay 1300 for 6 months for just liability. Company I use is Progressive. Im in my early 20s

Why would you move to LI...there is nothing to do there except pay the highest taxes in the US.

I'm not sure about a 97 m3 I pay about $1600/year for liability my 95 m3 and 87 190E plus an additional driver... you should of course take the defensive driving course, it's worth 10% off your premium here in NY... collision insurance for my m3 is an additional $1200/year with a $1000 deductible... :banghead:

Hey man welcom to LI...where will you be staying?
I live in Smithtown (Suffolk County) and yes the insurance is high. I have Geico, and they are pretty good with giving discounts. I have a 5 yr safe driver discount (No tickets AT ALL), daytime running lights discount (although I deactivated them), and defensive driver course discount.
I have a X5 4.4i and my rate is about $1800/yr. Oh, I'm 26. Suprisingly that is a good rate for NY/NJ!!
But I have full glass, liability and coverage.
