Today was a day i'll never forget. Holy crap 505rwhp monster. I never felt on how it feels to be sucked back into your seat. This car is so fast that you can't even floor the car. We was running low boost and i couldn't handle it. No lie we had to change gears at 4500rpm because it was just too intense. I just want to give props to george at ics in CT for creating a beast of a car for Jon. I will have a clip up soon on how 40-100mph feels like in a blink of a eye.

Sounds good we should set a date for english town.If we can get a m3 maybe sean or another m3 ICS machine we will have the start of a nice little
mix of bmw's a 328,roadster and a m3. Looks like the start of a little bmw drag
racing team. I guess we would be Mopowa racing. :buttrock

April 9-10 is nopi race wars at MIR what a way to represent ICS.There will be national coverage.George get some of the guys together for this will be great to show the import croud what the bimmer boys can do. :D

I guess you guys are now learning or are about to learn that power is the easy part in drag racing a street car! The hard part is to set the car up to use that power.

Don't be so naive.

Track officials will eject you from the track if you do any of these thigns:

1. Bump off the lights (thus activating the timers) and pause before re-launching
2. Touch your brakes before you've crossed the finish line

The only way to avoid ejection for running under the track index is to button off slightly at the top end before the finish line. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR BRAKES. A brake light is highly visible and will earn you a trip home.

Furthermore, track officials have seen a gazillion street cars try every trick in the book. If you're going to sandbag it all day and then let it rip on your last pass, be aware that they known all about it and won't be very happy.

Mr. Blonde, if you pull your e-brake, the brake lights don't go off and you can slow your car. This is a commonly used technique by some drag racers.

Drag racing is all about going as fast as you can anyway! But yeah, some guys use their handbrake. Smart move that, applying lock to your rear wheels at 130-140 mph :-)

I agree. I pulled the handbrake to slow down after passing a parked CHP car in one of my beater cars. I was going about 90 in a straight line, it applied the brakes uneaven and locked one wheel and sent me across one lane onto the sholder, I overcorrected and the car fishtailed back onto the fwy.....scary to say the least.

My local track has no problem with hitting the brakes.Well I have only done this during bracket elimination. I took 4th place last year and I did alot of top end braking. I lost when another car stayed to close and I had to stay on the throttle all the way. I broke out of my time by .06 if I would have won that one I would have recieved a trophy and money man was I pissed.

I will not baby the car just to stay at the track,Im going for the fastest time I can from the get go.If I run under 11.49 its just more time to me to drink my pepsi and smoke my cigs and watch the other forum members tear up the track :buttrock

Bracket racing is different to street meets ... I know people sandbag in bracket racing all the time, but that's not about avoiding mandatory safety requirements but staying under your dial in.

Not sure what prison island you're referring to .. although I enjoy dressing up as Snake Plissken as much as the next fellow.

You could also pull your bulbs or fuse. :dunno Keeping the brake lights from coming on when you apply the brakes isn't too hard. Running half track would probably be just as good to test your launch before you do a run that'll get you booted. When you get the money launch just keep going.

I've seen sub ten second runs when the driver cut at half track, that was with throwing the parachute. Unless ICS is really up to something you guys don't have the option of hitting the after burner on the launch.

I hope to be picking it up today, it needs an alinement bad and a few other minor things but if all goes well i hope to run it, with a set of slicks from Matt.
I think it should run low 13's high 12's. We'll see if i can get that stuff taken care of before the 26th? :)

woo wooooo...i got the slicks, go and run the times :D and dammit, the M6 needs a driveshaft...i want to run that with the other set of slicks :D but i guess i'll have to use the A8. It's got a V8, 330hp, 380lb/ft, roughly 4,000lbs, and I can take weight out of it...so who wants to start placing bets? and who wants to place bets on how fast we can do it with a full load...like me, george, sean, jon and dave in the car down the 1/4....hahahaha :D.

Too bad the new toy won't be up here in time...watch out for the white knight...that's her name :D

ICS is right on my way to new jersey. i have to drive right past it. i get out of class at 1 on friday and i was gonna hit the road right after that. so we can meet up at ICS and stay the night in CT or something like that cuz i am not getting up at the crack of dawn on saturday to drive down. ICS is only about 2 or 2.5 hours from me so i can probably (traffic permitting) be there by 4 on friday after noon (ok, maybe 5). call my cell tommorrow after 1 pm so we can get some details figured out. 240 460 7201

The 35R.. later this summer :)

The power meter is cool... you can use it as a mini-dyno :) Plus the combo of the power meter and SBC id will enable the speed map feature.. Not as straight forward as RPM based boost control.. but it's a cool feature that can prove to be quite useful.

The main reason is placement.. If you look at the Z3 cabin.. you'll be hard pressed to find a reasonable place to mount it.

My top three choices {AVC-R, SBC id, eBoost}

highlights

AVC-R - RPM based boost control VS Ricer look
SBC id - Nice Looking unit, with optional speed map VS Additonal $$ for speed map
eBoost - Flashable reprogramming VS large circular, relatively unattractive gauge look
