Is this true???

"The 3.0L CAMS are preferred by the performance crowd as they will allow the engine to make power beyond 5000 RPMs. On the Dyno the 3.2L CAMS make alot of midrange power but begin to trail off after 5000RPMS, hence you might as well shift instead of winding it to redline."

I was under the impression that cams were interchangeable between both motors. I think it's the intake and tune that's different and make the difference with regards to not making more power at higher rpm.

Are you looking for cams for your car?

http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com/cam_kits.html

If you have a 328 you use the 3.2M3 cam
If you have a 325 you use the 3.0M3 cam

And both cams make more power top end from abought 4000rpm and up.

Umm didnt I all ready answer your question?
what are you building.... and a M50 block/head you can only use the 3.0 cam
on a M52 block.head you can use the 3.2 cam...... BOTH CAMS MAKE POWER ABOVE 45005--5000 RPM.... I ven gave a link to a company that sell a compete kit and they are very well know. It comes with every thing you need if you are swaping cams in your 328 or 325 ( and they have a kit for the M3)

Here is the dyno of a 328 with the 3.2 cam kit.

In your first statement that the 3.2 only makes mid range power I dont know where you got this info if you follow that link to the company that sell the kit they have dyno of what the cams put out....

No you did not answer my question. You answered what cams would be best for a 2.8 engine. I do not care about a 2.8 engine. Like I said before, I am building a 3.2 engine. I would like to know what works best with a 3.2 engine. I hope this is a little more clear.

Yes, Most people go with a schrick cam I dont know of any one going with a 3.0 cam in there 3.2 it wold be worthless if you look at the lobe lift and the duration you would lose power. I dont have the specs for the stock cam handy I will have to dig them up.

Here is one the schrick cams specs that most people use in there 3.2's

I just figured you are building a 328 becuase that is the car you have lisited in your avatar.

Yea, I got a 3.2 block and debating what I want to do about a head and cams. I am thinking of using my 328 head and getting stiffer springs. I was going to get 3.2 cams, but some guy on ebay said the 3.0 where better....

*some guy on ebay*

they are not.... but if you are going to pay money for a cam get a high performance aftermarket one.

i think you're confusing dyno results of the m50/s50 manifold v.s the m52/s52 manifold. where the m/s50 manifold flows alot better up top(gaining anywhere form 10-20hp depending on othere mods) but will cause a m/s52 to loose just a little midrange torque.

the 3.0 and the 3.2 camshafts are nearly identicall in lift, duration, and overlap. and if you are using OBDII cam trays you can use either 3.0 or the 3.2 cams, where if you are using a obdI cam tray you must use the 3.0 cams or start grinding :)
