Ok my car is a 99 il with 67k and I am due for a oil change, I got 2 green bars on my service indicator before it gets to orange but i know its due for an oil change. I ust pull the car out of the garage and went to the gas station and the light came on for service engine soon on the way home, I also check to make sure the gas cap was secure therefore my questions are -

a. How long is is ok to drive the car before my next schedule appointment
b. Car had Inspection II done at 61k which included a new battery and both engine belts so I doubt I need anything apart from a oil change. Dealer change the power steering belts the 2 weeks ago becuase of a leak and also the valve cover gasket was replace and also the entire radiator including the expansion tank so I am hoping its jusdt the oil change why i am getting that light - any one have any ideas

I have this feeling that the gas cap was not securely put back on but is there anyway i can tell

Ok guys I think it was a loose oil cap I disconnected the negative side of the battery and the light did not return. I will see after a couple of days.
