Best bet's to use the round cardboard thingies that Tire Rack ships their wheels with. Then again, it'll be a bit more involved if the wheels aren't wrapped with tires.

As far as the service, I've found that FedEx Ground is the least expensive courier to use.

UPS charges a $5 surcharge for each non-boxed package.

Cut cardboard to cover the wheel face, tape, ship.

Yep, just cover the wheel portion with cardboard and ship. Fedex Ground is definitely cheaper for wheels/tires.

Yes. Don't use UPS. Use FedEx ground. Max weight I believe is 70lbs per package, so you'll probably have to ship them individually. It's not as expensive as you might think.

not true, 70 lb is limit until you put a sticker on it saying its over 70lb... if you ship them ups ship in 4 different boxes but still ship them together as one unit 4 parts and you get a discount for the shipment being over 100 lbs...

FedEx told me 70lbs was the limit for residential delivery shipments. :dunno
