After waiting for a week for a mobile welder to come out to my mechanic to weld on a crank position sensor bracket only to tell me he couldnt, :mad I decided to cut the BS and just get Tony at VAC to modify my M62. :D I am anxious to get the car on the road. It will be a 95 740i M62 with OBDI when its done. I cannot wait. The rest of the M7 body parts come in tommorow. They go to the Body shop on Wednesday for paint. Car is going to look and perform awesome when its done. Unfortunately I have been getting severely depressed with the time spent in the mechanics shop due to unforeseen problems & I have spent way more than I wanted to as well. This has been a financially painful 2 months, but at least the reward of driving my almost new 95 E38 will probably make me forget most of the anguish. Kind of like child birth I hear. ;)

You need only add a crank position sensor bracket to the front timing case cover on the M62 with the same dimensions as the one on your M60. Swap over your Vibration Damber from the M60 to the M62 so that your CPS will function properly. Use the M62 camshaft position sensor that comes with the motor. Only problem there is the connector on the sensor is the same as the one on your existing cars engine wiring harness. Make an adapater from yor old one . Change over the entire intake manifold assembly on the M62 using your existing M60 one. After that everything is a bolt in affair just like you were installing an original M60. Reinstall the existing engine wiring harness. Car should start right up. Some minor ECU tuning will maximize your performance after that. otherwise the original engine runs a little rich from what I hear, so it will take to the extra displacement with no problem. I will give more details as I am closer to the completion of this swap.

Sorry if I've missed this in past postings on your build saga -- are you making any performance mods to the M62 before dropping it in?
I can't wait to see pix of the body kit installed and painted. :redspot

I sure hope this will do it for you, man. You have been persistent as heck with this project. I expect we will see numerous "WHoo-Hah!" posts once you are done. Can;t wait to see it! Maybe at a spring gathering in Philly/NJ or wherever? I could use a nice long fast ride...
