View Full Version : car accident
poloniner 03-13-2005, 04:41 PM snow really sux.......lost control and went into the side concrete barrier. i'm pretty upset but at least the damage doesn't look too bad.
does anyone have experience with body work done at park ave bmw in maywood, nj? thinking about just bringing it there since insurance is covering it.
///M3 CRAZY 03-13-2005, 05:27 PM did you have snow tires on the car?
poloniner 03-14-2005, 12:16 AM actually i didn't but only because i usually don't drive it in the snow. i have a beater car that i drive when it's slick out, but didn't have it that day. came back from travel for work and there was snow everywhere. i am definetly getting them for the next winter seaon though.
i was actually thinking about doing an upgrade on the body kit. i should be getting a check from geico soon and want to do this asap. does anyone know a good shop in bergen county that does great work with cars, do the upgrade instead of replacing with original parts, and work with geico so that i won't have to pay much over geico's check?
Whatever you do, DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR BMW TO PARK AVE. BMW!!!!
OMG, just do a search on them here and on the net for reviews.
i forgot where i read it but try looking up Barry's autobody in either Maywood, Oradell, or Fairlawn... heard a lot of good things about him. try looking/asking on roadfly.
///M3 CRAZY 03-14-2005, 12:19 AM first off you only have to pay the deductable! second you shoulda had the right kind of tires on your car for the weather. there is a place called C&D auto body in south hackensack. give them a call.

heard of them too.... on bergen turnpike?

i know i only have to pay the deductible but if they can upgrade my body kit then i'll probably have to pay more. i won't mind if i have to pay a little more like a hundred or two but any more than that and i'll have to wait for the body kit upgrade.
Just clicked: Park Ave has a body shop?? thought the only BMW certified body shop at a dealer was at JMK which i've heard so many good things about them except that it takes forever to get an appointment because everyone brings their cars there.
I would suggest you bring it to JMK and see what they can do. if they are willing to "upgrade" the look of your car with later model parts. not sure though.

no i don't think they have one. i think they send it out to someone else.

Go JMK then. If anything should happen, one less party to dick you over.
poloniner 03-14-2005, 12:44 AM can you tell me where jmk is??
can you tell me where jmk is??
Springfield, NJ off R22 east i believe. there's a BMWCCA NJ chapter thing going on tuesday evening there.

973.379.7744 - they are a top notch place and can do anything you want custom or otherwise.
as for the upgraded kits, just let hte body shop know what you want. they can buy the parts for you and you'll pay the diff or you can bring the parts in at your expense minus the cost of the new crash parts.
on a side note, is your car registered in Jersey? I didn't know Geico was selling insurance in Jersey....good luck as they've been known to drop their customers at the first hint of a payout/risk.

poloniner 03-14-2005, 10:01 AM yes, i am registered in jersey and geico has been servicing jersey for about a year. i think.
i have also heard of geico dropping people after a claim and was kinda hesitant on going through insurance. so i asked the rep a hypothetical question about an accident that occurs because of snow. she said that they decide by going over all your records and that i shouldn't worry because you have because of situations like that. of course she's probably trained to say that. we'll see what happens. but if they do drop me then i'm screwed.
GG///M3 03-14-2005, 11:28 AM sorry to hear about this, but can you post some pics?

If they drop you, try NJ Cure.
poloniner 03-14-2005, 11:46 AM sorry to hear about this, but can you post some pics?
yeah......i'll take some pics tonight and post them up. i'll need to figure out how to post'em first, but will do.
poloniner 03-15-2005, 10:44 AM sorry guys....i was going to try and post some pics up yesterday but something came up. i will get to it once i get back in state.
a question about the two body shops, C&D and JMK. i am a lot closer to C&D auto body than i am to JMK. i was wondering if anyone knew which one was better or are they about the same?
OK, Correction here (mah bad)
Park ave does not have a body shop but I know who they use so you can save yourself some headache with Park Ave and go directly to the shop. It's on Rt 46 east next to Action Tire. the place is called Mizoni's (973-777-7115) or something like that; the estimater guy there is named Anthony. i'll report back how he is tonight. it's been recommended by a friend and i'm going there tonight to get a quote. Heard good things about this shop but not park ave. So skip the shit and go to the shop.
if it was Park Ave themselves doing it, i would rather fix it myself.

Mizoni's Auto Body is where I got my car fixed when I crashed my car. I went to elementary school and high school with the owner's son, so I've known them for a while. Very good quality work, in my opinion expensive, but if the insurance company is paying then go for it. I'm sure they will be cooperative with your wants.

Anthony that does the paint there is childhood friends with this guy Frank i met on roadfly. small world.
Yeah, i was looking at some work they do and it's very impressive. since i'm not paying for it, i can really care less how much they are going to charge or how they are going to charge. quality is what i'm after.
themadhatter 03-17-2005, 10:11 AM C&D has a great reputation doing work on extremely high end cars, JMK is an Authorized BMW repair facility. you can't go wrong with either.
I know someone who had his 330i repainted partially by C&D....the C&D work looks better then the factory work.

going to C&D friday when my boss and the team are away in the morning to get an estimate.. thne i'll sneak back to work. at least i'll try to sneak back.
MP525i 03-17-2005, 11:41 AM JMK is great. Tom (bodyshop manager) is a great guy and he'll help you out for sure. try the other places too, but i know that i bring all my stuff to jmk and i never worry about the quality. i'm actually bringing a spoiler to them today for a paint/install. :)

poloniner 04-08-2005, 07:27 AM well, so i've been freakin running around like a chicken with its head cut off at work and haven't been able to anything but. i know i said i was gonna post pics and i will even though the car is now fixed :redspot .
decided to go to a friends dad and see how he worked out. not "perfect" like i wanted but a good job. i'll try and post before and after pics but i still gotta find out how to post pics.
themadhatter 04-12-2005, 09:06 AM what wasn't fixed properly on it? are you saying that it was a half-assed job or just not up to what you were expecting?
