I have a 2002 M3 in Jet Black and the car has an inordinate amount of small rock chips on the front and hood. I understand that, after 20,000 miles you are going to have rock chips but it seems like it might be a paint problem. Anyone else experiencing that in Jet Black?

interesting. Also, if you are having problems, did the stone guard or the clear coat protection help preserve your front end? Thanks

I have the same problem with my 04 car. I found a lot of small stone chips since 3,000 miles. I heard BMW paint is very soft.

I didn't have any extra protection put on it other than the clear coat that came on the car. Guess I'm going to have to consider that or a bra next time around...

Curious... do you have your car garaged or does it sit outside?

That's normal. Now you know why so many people have a clear bra.

Is the clear bra noticable on a Jet Black car??? I've seen some variations of a clear bra and they're not so clear. My car is sopposed to be delivered in May and I'm planning a trip to Jersey to kill the break in period. So I was wondering if I should get this before hand.

The bra itself isn't really visible but the edges or seams will be.

i have a jet black 5 series with the same problem, i heard it has to do with only being able to use water based paint in germany or something. my jet black touch up paint is also much darker than the pain on my car, anyone else have that problem?
