Can anyone give my any feedback...Laterz M3corey 05-23-2002, 09:29 PM i had a single 12 inch solobaric L7 .. and i was pushing 800 watts into it .. damn that shit was soooooo loud .. i highly recommend the subs .. plus it doesnt need a big box .. that is always a plus BlackTintz 05-24-2002, 01:05 AM yea i also have a kicker square l7 sub in a sealed box with 1200 watts to it, i love it, lots of hit u in the chest bass. hey EVO do u have any dynamat or anything? and what kind of box do you have? im thinking of redoing a custom plexiglass enclosure and port it through the ski hole, it could be a LOT louder if i did something like that, and can you hear your bass out side the car? or is it that bmws are pretty sound proof? i was also thinking dynamat may be a solution too. KmanM3 05-24-2002, 09:10 AM I just bought 1 10" Solobaric L5 and I will be picking up the enclosure this weekend. I will let you know how it sounds. I am running 500 watts bridged from a RF amp BTW. When I shopped around Solobarics filled all my requirements: I wanted to find 1 sub instead of 2 and use a small sealed enclosure to free up trunk space, I wanted it to have power handling of at least 400 watts, and I did not want to spend too much money (sub $130, box $80). ~vo328~ 05-24-2002, 11:23 AM KmanM3, do you have a grille on the sub? I was looking at the Crutchfield catalog a the L7's and saw that they grille was this strange looking, spoked, design. Not much protection provided. Also, any pics? KmanM3 05-24-2002, 12:12 PM No pics yet..the sub is still in the box and it looks like the enclosure will not be here until next week.. I did not buy a grill yet but I kind of like the spoked design, looks kind of evil. You can even buy them unpainted and do some custom paint. I think I may buy the black one and paint some ///M stripes on it somehow. :buttrock kalib0y 05-24-2002, 12:33 PM theres a bimmer here with 2 15in L7s, that car is insane, not looks wise but sound wise, it can out bump a suburban with 8 12s. The L7s are a nice woofer but too much bass for me nydog 05-24-2002, 01:27 PM Kman let me know how that sounds when its in. I have 2 jl 12w3s but I'm seriously thinking about a different set up because the box, subs and amps is a lot weight M3corey 05-24-2002, 01:56 PM Hey ... no i didnt have any dynomat in my trunk hehe .. my liscence plate rattled so bad .. i had it in a sealed box .. its was pretty small .. the bass was insane .. i mean u definitely felt it in your throat and chest .. the amount of bass u get also depends on your box . i mean i had a pretty small box .. so the bass was tighter .. my friend had a larger box and it was just bass everywhere hehe .. hmmm my friend used to have 2 - 12 JL W6s with like 300 watts into each .. and i always thought his car was loud .. bu my 1 solobaric with 1000 watts into was just crazy .. i sold it all but i am planning on doing another system .. this time i want 2 - 12 solobarics .. custom box and an orion 2250xtr (old one or an old zeus amp =) nydog 05-24-2002, 02:48 PM my 12s are gettin bout 500 a piece and i think about 1 cube per speaker (maybe a lil less). I love the sound and the feel, but i know the weight is killing me. i just dont know if i can get close to the sound i have now with just one 12. mguy 05-29-2002, 02:14 AM KAMAN M3: where did you purchase your subs from ? KmanM3 05-29-2002, 09:41 AM Originally posted by mguy KAMAN M3: where did you purchase your subs from ? I bought them on Canal St. in NYC. There are tons of car stereo stores there with very low prices and they are also authorized dealers. I also saw a lot of L5's on Ebay for $130-$150 from various dealers. ms318is 05-29-2002, 10:25 PM By the way, Kicker is now outsourcing the production of L5's to China. Absolutely nothing against Chinese people, but a very big something against Chinese government letting their environment and people be grossly exploited. bennyblanco 06-11-2002, 11:29 AM Anyone know where I can get a single 10in or 12in enclosure for a Solobaric L7? It is very good quality 1" MDF and is the right volume for the L7. Highly recommended. :buttrock nydog 06-12-2002, 12:29 PM Originally posted by KmanM3 www.sounddomain.com www.thezeb.com www.audioenhancers.com I got mine from a local store who carries the audio enhancers brand. The box is barely larger than the woofer. about 14" cubed. out put is more than I need. KmanM3 06-12-2002, 03:23 PM Originally posted by nydog did you install the sub yet? how's it sound? Yeah, I have had it installed for a few days and I am very happy. It sounds better than the 2 10"s I had before and takes up very little space. With the seats up you can still feel the bass pretty well. The rearview mirror does not rattle like crazy, etc.. but I am definitely happy with the tradeoff (more trunk space = very decent bass). I may remove the rear speakers and see how it sounds through the empty holes. If you want to hear it in person let me know. We can set something up. :) |
