I like this one
Glenn95 03-10-2005, 09:22 AM So now the new 3 series looks like a mini version of the 5 series, and the 5 a mini of the 7. I don't like the way BMW is going, just my opinion.
These cars used to have different 'personalities', now they're just cookie cutters. And, if they phase out stick (real stick, like with a clutch and everything), some of us old school guys may have to go elsewhere :(
druster 03-10-2005, 09:32 AM As long as it has 3 pedals, sign me up!! :redspot :buttrock

Hmmm....does a dead pedal count?

:nono
EIAlfonso 03-10-2005, 11:13 AM Looks like the roof is the only part of the car that doesn't have 20 different angles, lines and creases.
At least it's a BMW, because if it wasn't I wouldn't have any interest in it.
New name = M5-2

Are you freakin serious?? The phase out of the cookie cutter shape is exactly what IS happening.
Bangle and other BMW execs felt that the e36/46, e39, and e38 looked way too similar. Same car, different sizes. I think most, including myself, would agree that they all look very similar.
Now, I'm not saying I had a problem with them lookin similar, I loved the designs.
Fact is, BMW would not survive with all of their cars looking the same like that though, people are looking for different things these days.
Bangle puts the angle in bangled up!

Cookie cutter in the sense that 7, 5 and now 3 are all looking the same, just a smaller version. I think they're looking like a Pontiac.

No, of course not! :mad
Should I have said "as long as it has three pedals and a dead pedal? :rolleyes

Just to compare which version seems more cookie cutter.

Thanks for spoiling our fun you cheap ba$tard. :stickoutt
That dude is really good at shop. He probably has a tablet as well. I personally prefer the E36 and E46 ///M's looks over the E90 and E60 ///M's. Even just normal E46 sedan looks 10x better than an E90, IMO. I liked that cookie cutter effect. Mercedes and Audi are winning buy using that method. As a matter of fact BMW was at its pinnacle in the ninties when they all looked similar. Also FYI, Bangle doesn't design the cars for bottom up. He ads his shit into the initial design as well but it a man by the name of Hooydonk in the BMW design studio in California who has been responsible for the new 3, 5, 6, and 7. Bangle I supposed adds his ass to the cars and finalizes the conceptual drawings. Oh Well

yeah..cause they have had such a hard time surviving up until now... :confused
CDCJON551 03-29-2005, 01:21 AM i still think E36 and E46 looks the best
Mr. Sparkle 03-29-2005, 12:43 PM E90 M3/4 is my next BMW. I can't wait.
Mad Dog 20/20 03-29-2005, 09:26 PM The family resemblence would not be SO bad if the daddy was not SO ugly. When you start with the 7 series and make smaller baby versions of that bloated disjointed thing, you end-up with ugly little ducklings. By contrast, the Benz S class and Audi A8 are beautiful classic designs with simple flowing timeless lines. Smaller versions of those concepts work.
BMW is making some ugly cars right now. :(
snafu 03-29-2005, 11:44 PM Looking at the above pics, the old versions look alot more alike than the new ones to me. I see more distinction on all the new models...front and back-ends of them. Ya, I think the 7 is ugly but I like the new 5er. As far as the e90 3 series...jury is still out on the photo-shopped pics of the coupes but the sedan absolutely is an improvement over the e46 sedan. The e46 was way too rounded and soft looking, e36 sedan looks better imo. I am glad they are going with a more angular look now. However, if they would only do something with the bulbous 7....
