short video: http://www.****************.com/lcd.wmv
Screen: Farenheit t-7002 - http://www.discountave.net/t7farcarmon3.html - $239.00 .. free shipping, no tax.. on clearance at this location.. best price by $50-100 compared to other places online. screen has a remote, and no buttons visible (obviously), and has 2 inputs for video sources (AV1, AV2) as well as an external RCA out for an output to additional screens. the headrest shroud had to be dremel'd to fit the area better, but was not difficult at all
DVD Player: Blaupunkt DVD-ME3 (will be here tomorrow.. currently have a farenheit dvd-61 and it sucks balls so i sent it back)... has dvd, mp3, cdr/rw/dvdr/rw, and built in TV tuner...
Audio runs into a RF modulator that is hardlined into the antenna... modulator was $39.99 at fry's (The $29.99 scosche one sounded like crap so i exchanged it)... the antenna adapter kit for both pieces was $14.99 at fry's..
Power is sent via the cig lighter.. total amperage for screen & DVD is less than 3A so it is more than sufficient.. power & ground come from the ciglighter, the white/violet wire from the stock radio is pulled for a switched +12V signal, and they are running into a standard 30A automotive relay to switch the DVD, LCD, and RFMod on when the car is on and off when the car turns off...
the whole install took me less than two hours.. was very easy.. scariest part was dremeling the sunglass tray so the switch area would remain but the other part would be free for the screen...
in time i'll be extending my OBC wires (would like to find the connectors to make a 'prewired' harness) so i can mount the OBC in the glovebox as well...
i wanted to keep the system looking as stock as possible.. i don't mind the stock head unit at all... and ahven't found an aftermarket that i think looks good... and i don't need a cd-changer now since the player plays cd's as well.. hell, it plays mp3 on dvd.. i only need one disc EVER...
quality is sharp, visibility from passenger seat is great (says the lady), and the screen is very bright, though it's not extremely distracting to my driving...
i want to get a short shifter now just to improve the clearance of the screen's viewing more than anything heheheh
any questions let me know...
btw, those that saw it at the dyno day... that audio problem *WAS* that bad RF modulator.. it's fixed now and sounds AWESOME
